I had the same problem with another bank.
You should read the small print. Maybe the overdraft is only available after 1 year, or when you're in your 3rd year etc... go into your branch and tell them to increase it. |

always read the terms and conditions, however it may be a mistake and you should contact your branch. |

I seem to remember my HSBC student account had a sliding overdraft limit that increased over the 3 years... and that it wasn't necessarily activated at the full level until I asked for it... but really, the people you need to ask are HSBC, not us! |

Personally, I think they are doing you a favour!!
Being overdrawn is not the way to live your life! |

Just go into the bank and ask. You may have misunderstood what was said, it is quite usual to have a "sliding-scale" arrangement whereby your limit increases annually over three years.
If that's a problem, a discussion might yield more fruit than a demand! |

I used to work with HSBC and I may be able to help you there, if it is a student bank account it is an AUTOMATIC £1000.00 if accepted, however the only time that you would get a 500 is if you have a pre-student account, are you taking a gap year or anything like that?...or was the account declined? if so you may just have a normal current acc with £500 |

I know of a few people this has happened to. I would go in to your local HSBC, and ask them about it. Maybe complain, and tell them you are considering going to another bank. This may cause them to reconsider your overdraft limit. If not, then i would try another bank. |

when you opened your account i am sure that they give you paperwork to look over....check this stuff out
but really and truly its good it £500 as when you get paid next your wages will be swallowed your overdraft
you dont want to be living hand to mouth
thats not living!!!!!! |

Ask them and then open an account with another bank that is more honest although I don't think there is one!! |

Ask the bank.
Do you have a contract or paperwork which says the contrary? or do you just think this? Ive often confused offers and deals and things like that-thinking I got one thing and got another. |

I think i can help with this one!....the limits are subjetct o the money in your account..i mean that if you only have alittle bit of money in your account coming in and out or none at all..the limit will only be small or not alot at all...so you need a regular activitity on your account if that makes much sense to have the big limit |
