Thank you for your recent application for Blue from American Express. After reviewing your request, regrettably, we are unable to open an account for you at this time for the following reason(s):
We have been unable to obtain your consumer credit bureau score from the agency(ies) identified below.
The consumer credit reporting agency provided the following information regarding your credit file:
The Profile report does not contain any tradelines that have been open for at least six (6) months.(Experian) |

Sounds like you have no credit history and this is your first attempt at getting a credit card.
Go to the bank where you have a checking or savings account. Deposit $500 into a savings account, ask to apply for a secured card with a $500 limit. Use that card wisely for a period of 6 months or more. Charge things you would normally purchase - groceries, gas, etc. and pay it off in full each and every month.
After a period of time (usually a year) ask the bank to convert the card to a non-secured account. At the same time, ask for a higher limit. I have done this - started with $500 secured, now that card is unsecured with a $15,000 limit.
If you are smart about using the card - Pay in Full, no late payments or overlimits, you should be able to get any card you want in the future. |

In plane english, you have whats called a thin credit file. All this means is that you don't have enough trade lines or they have not been open long enough or both. |

You either have no credit record or a very skimpy one. Go review your credit reports.

You don't have a credit score because you don't have any accounts that have been opened for 6 months. You have been turned down for lack of credit history.
If you have another credit card, wait 6 months before trying to apply again for the AmEx account. If you don't have any credit cards, apply for a gas or store card. They are easier to get. Or you could go to your bank and get a secured credit card -- you deposit $X which is held as collateral against the line of credit. |

The type of card you choose is dependent upon how you plan on paying your card and what you're looking for. If you plan on paying your balance in full each month (and they calculate interest based on your average daily balance for one statement cycle instead of over a 2 month billing period) then there is no reason for you not to do cash back or points because even though those cards have higher interest rates if you're paying off in full every month by the payment due date you're not going to be charged finance charges.

What this is telling me is that most likely you have no credit history so no credit score. I would go to your local bank and see if you can not open a credit card through them to start your credit history. |

You need to go to
annualcreditreport.com
for a free copy of all three of your credit reports.
If you go to a site that wants a credit card number - you've hit a scam.
Don't pay for your scores - you need to make sure your report is in shape.
I suspect that maybe you might not have a credit history yet. If not, try applying for easier cards to get like:
Target visa, Kohl's mc, jcpenny, sears, any gas station card.
after 6 months of paying off the balances in full - then apply for a major card again.
Review your reports. Something as simple as a wrong digit in your address could be fouling everything up. My reports had an o instead of a 0 in my numberical address. I had to send a copy of my dr. lic and a copy of a bill.
It will take time to figure out what's wrong. But getting those free reports is a good start.
