i recently bought some items at a church event and the woman took my credit card to swipe it and later asked me to include my telephone # on the recipet, well my credit card statement has a charge for a gambling transaction from the location and bascially confirmed it was the same person or place or whatever for both charges: the items, and gambling. Go to the police and file a police report. Take copies of all the information that you have - your credit card statement and the contact information for the woman you suspect stole your information. Do not confront the woman - let the police do that.
Call your credit card and cancel your card right away. Tell them your information was stolen and inform them of the charges you didn't make. Tell them that you want to dispute the charges. As soon as you get a copy of the police report, send a letter to the credit card company outlining what happened and the charges that you didn't make. Include a copy of the police report as well.
Keep notes of every conversation you have regarding this matter and keep all the paperwork associated with it. |

Write to your credit card company to dispute the charge. They get massive piles of such letters and will give you a refund after investigating the matter. |

The first thing you should do is cancel the credit card. They will credit the charges that were made. Then call Trans Union Fraud Dept @ 1-800-680-7289 and have it put on Fraud Alert. They will notify the other 2 Credit Bureaus you at no add'l cost. As suggested notify the police. Let them go after her. Also, no one has the right to ask for your home phone or social security #. |

We deal with similar issues all of the time in the credit industry, but in situations like this, they are generally family members. There are 2 routes you can take. Get that person to pay you for the transactions so that you can pay your bill, or file a police report. The police will work with the credit card company and the vendor to identify the person who used your card and they will arrest them. Oh, by the way, you would need to do this within 60 days or it generally becomes much more time intensive to get this resolved. Good Luck. |
