I have credit card dept? Can my husband pay it off with his credit card?
I have capital One. I haven't paid it back for a while which is ruining my credit. My question is can my husband pay from his Washington Mutual credit card to pay my credit card debt?

I work for a credit card company and cardmembers ask this all the time. The RIGHT answer is: your husband has to call WaMu and ask them if they have any special offers to do a balance transfer like a 0% APR for a year. Then, he lets them know you want to transfer the balance from your accnt # to his.

He has to have the available credit though. For example if his credit line is $9000 and he has a balance of $7000, he can only transfer a little less that $2000 (because of the transfer fee which is 3% of the transfer amount) so that he does not exceed his credit line.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not take a cash advance on your husbands credit card like the other person said because these do carry a high APR. Hope this helps let me know if you have any other questions..

No! you can't pay a credit card bill with a credit card.
You might be eligable for a balance transfer, but you might not.
Balance transfers have to paid too everyone! You must pay with real liquid money.

There are approx. 4 major banks-5 counting capital one, if you read the fine print you'll see that banks don't play that game. So if you think about getting credit back together, cut up all your cards until your payed off.

Not directly...but by getting a cash advance on the WAMU card.....Cash advance interest rates are very high...like 30%...in addition to a 3% cash advance fee.

Paying off one credit card account with another is called "balance transfer." It is not possible to make a straight payment to a credit card balance using another card without going through the balance transfer process (which will then allow the institution making the payment to assess a specific fee and different interest on that particular loan).

In short, the answer is yes. In total, the answer is that you will have to do this in agreement with Washington Mutual and it is going to cost you. Do the math, calculate the interest you will pay and late fees if you continue to pay as you are and compare it to the cost of the balance transfer option that Washington Mutual should be able to offer you. Whichever is the most cost effective, use. Chances are that the balance transfer will be the most cost efficient model for you.

I used to work in the Wells Fargo credit department and know that these things usually work in your best interest - so definitely have your husband contact someone at Washington Mutual. You'll probably be very happy with the results.
