There's many issuers with credit cards designed for people with bad credit. You can find a complete list here:

Although these offers tend to have higher interest rates (and additional fees) when compared to 'standard' credit cards-- they'll help you build and improve your credit score. Eventually, with regular on-time payments-- you'll be able to apply for better offers with lower APR's and less fees.

Well, under 500... I dont know. Mine was horrible at 568 several months ago and I applied for a First Premier Bank card at the advice of my bank. Its expensive. There are a great number of fees associated, and the initial limit is $250 for most low credit scorers. My total bill first month before using the card was $178 and 6 dollars a month after that, but, I consider it a reasonable charge for the risk of extending me credit and I have already used the card to raise my score up over 600 by using it to pay a bill or 2 every month and paying in full immediately afterward. In leiu of this, get a secured card through a reputable lender. |

Ask yourself this...If you were a bank would you give yourself credit? I understand though...my credit sucks too. I have been working on cleaning my credit up though by paying my bills not adding to them. Pull a credit report online and go through there calling the companies you are delinquent with and make payment arrangements. It will probably take some time but you obviously have nothing to lose. Orchard Bank is an option. Also depending on where you bank, they may offer secured credit cards there as well, that's another option. Now there are some credit card companies that offer 100% approval (i.e. First Premier) that give you a card, but charge you any kind of fee that you can think of giving you a balance before you even use the card. If you're cool with paying fees upfront to use the cards, then go for it. Otherwise I'd stay away from them |
