I have huge debt, need help, $38,000 in credit card debt and we are a negative $400.00 per month,?
We are in our late 50's have 2 mortgages and all this credit card debt, we were just making it and then my husband had 2 colon cancer surgeries in 6 months, I am afraid of debt reduction because I have heard bad things, and debt counseling would save some, but it all seems so hopeless, creditors are calling me at work and I have a job that would be in trouble if we declared bankrupcy, just let me know I am not alone and give me some honest and good advice..blessings

you need more help than a good answer. you need money. i would have suggested a refi loan on your house but you already have 2 mortgages so that probably won't work. sounds like bankruptcy to me. i know it might get you in trouble at work but if you're already $400 in the hole every month, you'd be better off making nothing. it's not so bad.

At your age you have to have tons of stuff that you can sell to start paying off bills. Selling STUFF is just stuff. Being homeless or worse if anything happens to your husband is a lot worse than keeping the stuff. Go to www.craigslist.com. Find the one in your city and start listing stuff to sell with a great write up and digital picture to go with it. Sell enought stuff to get the back due debt paid off and then start knocking out your other existing debt. Stop using the credit cards no matter what. If you have children ask them for help. Put pride aside and get the help you need before you are really really screwed. Craigslist is free and easy to sell stuff with. Much easier than a garage sale and you get way more money. Good luck. Also buy a Suze Orman book to help out your spending issues and other financial stuff.

I don't understand why your job would be in trouble, but if there is anyway possible, I would highly suggest filing bankruptcy. I was in a similar situation and I filed bankruptcy 2 years ago. I know have excellent credit and have been able to get every loan I've applied for.

I'm much happier and don't have to worry about it anymore. I've made a new beginning and now I help people with their finances and credit.

Read the Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey. And to save on money - borrow it from the local library. Yahoo answers is a good tool for simple questions - but I think you need a proven tool for debt reduction. Get gazelle intense! (It will make more sense once you read the book)

Move to somewhere where there are cheap meds. (aka. Canada) and once your husband is out of his medical problems, move to somewhere where the creditors won't dare try to follow you. (aka. North Korea.) This worked for a friend of a friend of mine.

Hi, I don't see your annual income on here. But i'm guessing you ARE NOT bankrupt. don't do it. You can get out of this.

Dave Ramsey.com CHECK IT OUT it will save your life.

I'm working the problem now and just looking at your finacials that you have posted I can offer this... Number 1. You need to increase your income. Work extra jobs. SELL stuff. Do anything to generate income. Change your life style. No more eating out. GET on a BUDGET. Keep your lights on..food on the table and roof over your head.

Get current on your bills. If you cannot. Gather up some money anyway you can and call this companies and offer them settlement money.
Dave ramsey suggests only talking to them once every two weeks. Make sure they stay polite or they can talk to a dial tone.

MY yahoo is scanky_butt feel free to IM me about anything.
