Household Bank and Capital One are two companies who are very generous at giving credit cards out to consumers with no credit. You can apply online at their websites and usually you will receive a response within 60 seconds.
Credit can be obtained from a department store as well fairly easily, such as Sears, Best Buy, JC Penny, etc... by making a purchase and applying for credit.
Another tip is to have a family member or friend add you as an authorized user to a credit card, which they can either let you use or not use. The key here is that you can borrow from their credit history and the account you are added too should report to your credit as well and you will immediately have a credit history.

I had the same problem when I was 18. However, I was in college and US Bank had a College Rewards credit card. Over the past three years, I have established credit, and I have a credit score of 750. I can buy a house now! Definately go to US Bank. |

Premierbank.. You want to get a credit card where you have to pay like 100 dollars to obtain it and start off with only a credit of 250.00 for the credit card. That is how I got my first credit card. It sucks to have to pay money for it that way but that is how I started.. Getting a cellphone would help. Get a loan that someone co-signs for you will help get you some credit. Anyway.. try Premierbank. look them up online. |

You've heard a lot of answers, I'll give mine.
The EASIEST way to get a credit card is to check where you do your banking to see whether secured credit cards are offered. Think of this as building credit with a savings account. A deposit would have to be placed upfront to get the same amount of the deposit in a line of credit, but the deposit also gains interest while you're building credit. The deposit is pretty much collateral for the credit line. After paying on time and not maxing out the account by keeping the balance low, usually after a year the deposit is given back, the card either changes over to a regular card, or you're offered a better card altogether. It helps to raise the credit line by adding to the deposit ever so often so that once it does change to a regular card, the high credit line will look better on your credit.
There are some cards to avoid:
Capital One: They do not report your credit line correctly. They report what you curently owe as the credit line instead of what your true credit line is.
First Premier: They charge additional unecessary fees along with an annual fee.
New Millenium: See Above
Orchard Bank offers cards to those that are just starting out to build credit and others that are starting over to rebuild credit (I'll post the link to apply below) The also offer secured cards as well if you don't qualify for a regular card.
Also another thing is that if you're paying bills on time like rent, utilities, cell phone, insurance, etc., there's a credit bureau that helps you build credit by reporting these payments every month. PRBC is a new credit bureau that reports accounts that don't show on your regular credit report. I posted the link below as well, and I strongly suggest you look the whole website over, it will definitely help. |

This coming from a 21 yo who is on a debt consolidation plan. Please if you do end up getting a credit card try not to go overboard. I did. lol Im up to about 14 credit cards and im soo broke all the time and always so stressed. But I started selling Avon and they had an offer i applied for it and got it after that the applications just kept coming to me and thats how i got in debt. |
