yes your rating will go up if you make the payments on time

Just for applying for a credit card your credit score drops.

My very first credit card had a 500 limit. Now the limit is over 10 grand. If you only want start a credit history (which is what I did) Use that thing SPARINGLY. Credit isn't money by a long shot. Just use it to fill up you're gas tank a couple of times of month or buy groceries once a month. Not too much, and something where you can pay the WHOLE balance at the end of the month okay.

I'm sure its a good credit card. Make sure you read the small print for yearly fees though. Those can bite you in the a$$ come year end when you thought you're balance was zero.

Yes, pay it off as soon as possible and it will work for you. So use a little of it and pay it off before the interest kicks in, like send a payment within a couple weeks. Then never charge on it again. Don't apply for another one. One more thing, just because you have a 200. limit, remember that if you charge 200 when the interest kicks in on it, it will go over your credit limit and that will lower your credit score by going over the limit, so pay it as soon as you charge it, call or do it by internet, just do it before the bill comes in.

It is a big rip off. Do not do it. This type of credit card will end up costing you so much money. If you are poor , the LAST thing you need is a credit card. You can not borrow your way to wealth. You make money by saving ,not by buying stuff you do not need on credit.
You do not need nor want credit. If you can not pay for it in cash today, why do you think you can pay for it later, with interest costs and late fees added to it ? You can not !
Do not do it, please ?

It will help you build a credit history. It should be a good card if it is a major card that can be used in most establishments like Visa, Mastecard, Discover, American Express, etc. Your credit line is pretty low so be very careful not to exceed your credit line. You will have to pay interest on what you borrow, but that is not a lot of money on a $200.00 credit line. You should use the card and pay payments consistently on time. This will help you build a credit history. If you pay late, miss payments, or exceed your credit line, you will damage your credit rating! Treat the card like cash, it is very valuable! Identity theft is huge problem. Be responsible and careful.

Yes it will, over time...
Credit is a tricky thing. Opening an account will lower your score, but only temporarily. Since you have no credit, obviously you have to open new accounts. Don't apply for too much credit at once, as inquiries can hurt your score too.
Length of credit history is a BIG factor. The longer the credit history the better. Also having your balances over 35% lowers your score. So on a $200 card, anything over $70 will hurt your score. Also having low limits like $200 will bring your score down. You should do a search for credit cards and find one that suits your needs with a higher limit. $200 is REALLY low, even for having no credit.
The first thing you should do is get your free credit reports. Everyone in the United States is entitled to all three of the major bureaus reports once a year. Its called the "FACT ACT". Go to www.annualcreditreport.com.
There is so much information to be had on credit its impossible to put here. Jut remember, your credit is the most important tool you have in life. Use it, but don't over use it. :)

Keep this card and use it ....Pay your monthly payment each month on time. After about 6 months you'll have a credit worthy scoring.

apply for another card, after 6 months.

Keep in mind....it's very easy to get yourself over your head in debt.

All you need is 1 card. If you have a VISA or Mastercard that is all one needs to do transactions.....

This of course is not what americans do...They have a card for this store, that store, and get themselves deeper and deeper in debt...Sometimes forcing them to go Bankrupt because they can not keep up with the bills.

Pay cash...and when you do use that card pay it up in full at the end of each month to avoid that 19%-26% interest that the ccard company likes to gounge you with.

Your rating will go up as long as you make timely payments and your credit limit will go up also the longer you are established with them, however please check your disclosure first. They may have extended you a $200 limit, but there may be in the fine print, a $75 activation/one time membership fee, etc ALREADY charged to your account.

angel_eyes1313
I am not sure if that is a good card or not. But I would make sure you only buy things that you can pay off by your next bill.
I've been doing a lot of checking in to this. Everything I've read and been told says this.Example: I have $100 to spend. Set that money aside and make my purchase with the credit card then when I get my bill pay the full $100. If you only make the min. payment then the shirt that you bought on sale for $8 is going to cost you a couple hundred because of the interest. If you do it this way and don't miss any payments or are late on any payments you can build your credit.
I added the credit reporting sites because I found a lot of helpful information with my credit.
I hope this made sense and helped you at least a little bit.

?
DON'T USE THAT CARD!

just pay on it. if you use the card you will have a high debt ratio on it. it will only help keep your scores down. only use about 35% of the card. pay on time for about four months, your credit score should be about 50 points higher. then apply for a better card.

That card will slowly have the limit increased by the credit card company. They will do it a little bit at a time and if you're like most people you will slowly watch your balance climb with that limit. Next thing you know you'll have $10,000 in debt and be paying out interest every month. Keep that balance at ZERO!!!!!!!

If you would like some true money advice. I'd suggest Dave Ramsey. You can even listen to him for free on his website. Great advice.
