I have no credit, and want to build one. Which one is better Orchard or First Premier CC? HELP Please?
I have no credit, I just started working, and like what I said, I want to build my credit score coz I want to buy a car in the near future, now I tried to research on Y! Answer about Orchard or First Premier Credit Cards, which one is better? Who charges more fees? Who is more reliable? I need all the information I can get. I applied in Target CC but I got denied coz I dont have any credit records. PLEASE HELP.

Would you recommend any company that will approve a new cc holder with no credit records whatsoever?

So far the best card I have found for building/rebuilding credit is Orchard Bank. They have a low interest rate (14.90, good for a sub prime card), low annual fee, no hidden fees and if you manage your account properly, they give excellent credit limit increases.

Avoid First Premier, Tribute, Rewards 660, Imagine, Total, and Continental Finance. These are all high fee / low limit credit cards that amount to nothing more than a scam.

Avoid Capital One. They do not report your credit limit and that damages your credit score. Example, they give you a $500 limit and you use $250, they will report your limit as $250. This will damage your credit score because instead of using 50% of your credit limit, it looks like you are using 100% of your credit limit

Avoid secured credit cards. Most report your status as secured and this does nothing to help build/rebuild your credit.

Between those two Orchard would be better. First Premier is very heavy in fees. You will end up paying about 200 dollars in fees, for a $250 credit limit.

Orchard will generally approve a most people and their Annual fee if they charge you one will be between $39 and $79. If you don't get approved for an unsecured credit card you can sign up for a secured card. This is where you put a minimum of $300 into an account and they give you a Credit Card with the same limit. This reports to the credit reporting agency just like a regular credit card. It is not a debit card.

A secured credit card requires that you deposit money with the issuing bank, and the bank will issue a credit card in the same amount for your use. Secured cards are guaranteed to be approved, because the bank has your deposit money in case you do not pay your balance. A secured credit card for bad credit operates much like a regular credit card. You receive a monthly statement, and you pay your minimum monthly payment or the balance in full each month. You are charged an interest rate, annual fee and possibly other fees for a secured credit card account.
Try to get a secured credit card.
Be aware that with a secured credit card for bad credit, your charges are not deducted from the deposit you have with the issuing bank. The bank is simply holding your deposit in the case that you default on your credit card balance. You must pay your monthly payments, and owe the bank the balance that you have charged on the credit card. You cannot refuse to pay simply because the bank is holding a deposit without further damaging your credit. Before taking only others advise, you may want to review, search and compare credit cards. Try my source, the site for searching on what you need is quite simple. The forum is quite extensive as well.

Ok First Premier bank offers cards with guaranteed approval. And it is very useful point It provides more attractive conditions. If i were you i will choose First Premier. http://credit-cards-guru.com/First-PREMIER-Bank-958350-page.php

Stay away from First Premier. They typically give you a credit card with a $250 limit and you have $250 in fees. You are paying for a card that you cannot use. And they charge monthly fees, so even after you have made a payment, the balance is not being reduced.

If you are over 18, open a bank account and get a debit card. Then apply for a store credit card....like Macys. Use that and follow the terms, then you should be able to get a better credit card.

Or ask your bank.....often times they have special credit cards for people starting out.

I'm in the same boat as you. Got into alot of trouble few years back and was only able to open a checking account for the first time only 2 months ago. Then I found out that I DON'T EVEN HAVE a FICO score ! So I was rejected 4 a couple secured cards at Bank of America and also Capital One. I found out later that the rejection by Capital One was a good thing because Capital One has ALOT of Problems. I did research on First Premier Bank with ripoffreport.com and they've got over 500 bad reports. All kinds of bad stories with First Premier so I decided against them.

Then I tried applying for a Secured Card with Orchard and was accepted and should receive my Credit Card in the mail any day now. Don't know 4 sure but I THINK Orchard will work out. Also I did research on New Millennium Bank secured credit card and I'm going to give them a try because 3 OR 4 people online said there Secured Credit Card reports as a UNSECURED Credit Card which is very Important.

p.s. The minimum deposit for a Secured Credit Card with Orchard is NOT $300 as mentioned above but is $200

Hope that helps LOL

While Orchard would be the better choice out of the two, you may want to try Wells Fargo and Bank of America. I believe that they're in your area. The offer secured cards that have a low annual fee and a pretty decent interest rate. You would have to put a deposit in a savings account to get the same amount in a credit line, but you could think of it as a way to start a savings for yourself since the security deposit's tied to the savings account. The good part about it is that not only you can increase your credit line by adding to the deposit account, it also creates discipline when it comes to saving money. As long as you keep the balance low by not maxing out the card, and paying slightly more than the minimum payment on time every month, usually after a year the deposit is refunded and the card either converts to an unsecured card or you'll receive an offer for an even better card. I sent links to wells fargo, bank of america, and orchard bank.

Good luck!

neither, you need a credit card that reports on time to all 3 credit comp on a monthly basis. Get a chase credit car, they offer on for students. go to www.adviceontime.com and read the article about credit, this will give you a wealth of info on credit.

Try Visa instead.

I personally like Orchard Bank, but I have listed a source below that has a summary of each credit card company that issues credit to people with bad or no credit.

Join a credit union and apply for a secured credit card. In 6 months you'll have a positive credit history and might be able to get a card from CitiBank. After a year call your credit union and ask them to unsecure you card. The credit union card you can keep for life and will probably have the best terms (although maybe not the highest limit).
