I have no credit history. Should I get a credit card?
As the question states, I have no credit history. There is no way I can get someone to co sign for a loan for me. I was just wondering if this was the best way for me to get a credit history if I use the card wisely and make a minimal amount of purchases.

yes, you can get one, but I would be careful they try to get young people and then people are irresponsible and keep building debt. If you get one, make one purchase on it every month and then pay off the whole balance right away, that way you're building credit and not building debt.

I got a credit card and bought a tv at sears and payed it off to establish credit of my own...dont go overboard or it will ruin your credit....make a small purchase of something each time you pay off one...make only purchases that you can pay off easy and fast....

This card may be right for you. It starts out with a low limit so you can't get into too much trouble with debt. The limit will get bigger as you pay it on time. There is no credit check so you are guaranteed acceptance. it also reports to all 3 credit agencies so you will build credit. Hope this helps.

good idea. You can buy whatever you want, but here is the catch:

you pay off the balance every month

Yes, you owe them nothing, pay them nothing to borrow their money for a 30 day period.

One time you make a "minimum" payment, you start paying them for the privilege of using their card.

That would be a good first step in establishing a line of credit. You can check with your bank and they should be able to get you a card. The worst you would have to do is have someone co-sign with/for you. From there, you can slowly build up your credit.

Yes, it is a good reference, and more than making minimal purchases, it is a matter of spending less than you earn, and pay everithing as soon as you use the credit. Avoid paying interest by using the card.

Get a credit card, and keep the balance under 50%. A department store might be the only one you can get at first-- but just a couple good months and you should be able to get a visa or discover.

Get a secure card. Deposit an amount with the issuer bank and use your own money to build your credit. It works. Try Bank of America.
