When getting a credit card, all fees are charged to your new account.
I'd contact your attorney general.

you got taken for a ride...

This is a rip off. You should not have to pay for a card.

its a scam

there are many company's who say they will get you a card for a fee but all they do is send you details and it does not mean you have been accepted

i think you are going to have to learn from experience

jfunk
you got ripped off

Blazing Pen Avenger.
What has happened to you is known as 'obtaining money by deception.' Take legal advice, then write to these people and ask for your money back. Also; check with Credit Reference Agencies to see if there are any 'adverse entries' registered against your name and current place of domicile. If so, lodge a Certificate of Correction. Henceforth, whenever you apply for credit, do let any prospective lender know what has taken place, and, how these 'fat cats' conspire, in order to relieve people such as yourself of their hard-earned 50 dollars.

Lord drydreamer of that ilk
All they wanted was $50.. In future never part with any money until you get the goods

Ive never heard of having to pay for a card. Are you sure its not a scam?

Did you apply to CGS directly? They deal with credit card brokers, the the fee may have been charged by the broker, who merely forwards your application to CGS and pockets the fee with no guarantee that CGS will approve you for a card.

They may justify this fee as a charge for "processing" the application. It is not a fee from the card like your first annual fee.

i did that once applied for a credit car thru a newspaper add yea all was ok it said id been accepted but i was gulable enuf to send them a postal order of 45 quid thinking it was for amin fees then after they recieved payment they asked for a 95 pound 1 off payment its a rip off u dont get anything for nothing be very wary has i have learnt that. an it much better saving havin ur own money then u dont have to pay the interest and it means mor knowin u paid for it with ur own hard earned cash rather than a bit of credit that cud ruin ur life has it does many people whop r in thousands of pounds of debt!!! i say save dont apply for 1!!
