To boost your credit score:
The first thing you will need to do is call the three major credit reporting agencies and request a free copy of your credit report.
www.equifax.com
www.experian.com
www.transunion.com
Then once you get those in the mail (7-10 days) there will be a dispute form attached to the reports. Fill those out for every negative account on your report regardless. Fax, mail go online whatever it takes to get those submitted as quickly as possible. Then those companies must answer your dispute within 30 days or it is removed from your credit report completely. So that will eliminate some things, hopefully.
Then make sure you pay all your revolving accounts to below 50% of your credit limits.
Make sure that you make all your payments no more than 20 days from the date it is due.
Good Luck! |

There are more that a few lenders who specialize in credit cards for people with bad credit. You just have to look a little harder than most people have to.
And getting a card after you've had a few problems doesn't necessarily mean that you have a higher than normal rate. Like I said, you'll just have to compare between credit lines, yearly fees, and interest percentages. Just make sure you do your homework BEFORE you commit, and you'll be fine.
You can find some offers for credit cards, both secured and unsecured here:

You should improve your credit first through credit repair. . Usually companies charge hundreds of dollars to simply pull your credit and send correctly worded dispute letters—this is the key…..people will tell you that you can do this yourself for free but the truth of the matter is that the credit bureaus will throw your letters away or simply reject them. There is an easy to use online kit that will deliver the results you want available for just $19.95 at the source website. A similar kit is being sold via infomercials and radio talk shows for seventy dollars more but they try to solicit you repeatedly for other services after the fact. |

a few years ago I started with the high fee cards and did well with staying Way under the limit and paying on time. It worked but to answer your question I found capital one was the best. one annual fee, no monthly fee and in three months I got the increase of 200.00. Also tribute( high fees) and Aspen worked the same for me. paid on time and got increases did not use them and now get offers from better companies. I consolidated $450.00 onto discover, minimum pay 15.00 but since used to making 75.00 a month I pay that instead, and have $10-20 balances on all others to keep the accounts open. Longevity matters on your credit.
No problems when i went to buy my home closed in 35 days. keep your head up, credit is one thing that over time can be fixed. good luck to you.... |

First Premier Bank and Orchard Bank are easy credit cards to get with bad credit. I have also listed some steps to help you get your credit back on track.
First, make sure all the information on your credit report is accurate.
Second, try to pay off all or any accounts that are currently in collections or make payment arrangements with the creditor to pay off the balance monthly.
Third, any credit card that is over 50% of the available credit line should be paid down to under half of your total credit line. Your credit score is lowered when your available balance is over 50% of your total credit line.
Finally, if you have bad or no credit and have no credit cards try to obtain two credit cards and make sure all of your monthly payments are made on time. This will help increase your credit score. If you cannot be approved for a unsecured credit card, obtain a secured credit card.
Repairing your credit and improving your credit score is a slow process that takes time. |

Although I don't know you personally, I do know that the last thing you need is a credit card! If you can't afford to live within your means, without one, you will be less able to live within your means, with one, when you have that extra payment to make every month. Take it from someone who had to learn the hard way.
If you decide to go ahead and get a card, please don't get a prepaid one. The extraneous fees they charge every month will eat up whatever amount you prepay, and you won't be able to use what's left for much anyway.
In my experience the absolute best credit card company is Capital One Bank. They are the only bank I know of (from personal experience) that will lower your interest rate once you have demonstrated your credit worthiness to them. Make your payments on time and don't go over your credit limit. After 6 months to a year, give them a call and ask if they can do better on your intrest rate. That's what I did and without any questions, the guy took a look at my credit history with them and dropped the interest rate by 5%, even though the card was always just a dollar or two away from being full. Also, their reps are the nicest, most pleasant people to work with, there are never any hidden charges, and the service is excellent.
On the other side of the fence are banks like Merrick Bank. They issued me a card at an average interest rate. After establishing my credit with them for a short time, they automatically increased my credit limit by $300. Nice gesture I thought, untill about 3 months later when they upped my interest by about 15% (not a typo). I couldn't believe it so I called to check and was told that they are in business to make money. When I asked them to close the account and I would make payments until the balance was paid, I was advised that they would have to charge me $3 a month over and above my payment for having an outstanding balance on a closed account.
Read the credit card agreement carefully and watch out for those one-time-only up-front fees, and unreasonably high annual membership fees. Whenever you are tempted to make a purchase, ask yourself if it is a want, or a need. If it is a want, then you can do without it, and save yourself all that money that you would have wasted by putting it on a credit card, and paying intrest.. Finally, never, never, justify buying anything on a credit card because it is on sale for a giveaway price, and you might never get anopther chance to make such a good deal. You will pay for that item, plus interest, over and over again before you get the credit card paid off.
I hope I've given you some food for thought. Best of luck whatever you decide to do.

Major credit card issuers like Discover, American Express and Chase offer a credit card for bad credit holders. A 'shopping' card offers you an unsecured line of credit from specific sellers. Use these cards to increase your credit rating, since the credit bureaus will be informed about your timely payments.
Take care to ensure your credit is good by making intelligent credit choices. Keep low balances, do not be extravagant and take care to pay off your balances promptly every month. |

Bad credit problem can be caused due to a number of situations. The credit card choices available to bad credit people allow them to rebuild their credit history. Financial products that help bad credit people are prepaid credit cards or debit cards, secured bad credit cards, unsecured bad credit cards. In this article we take a look at each one of them.
Prepaid or debit cards:
These are the easiest option available for bad credit people. There are no verifications, no credit checks, no employment requirements, and the approval is instant. All they have to do is to deposit a money and a prepaid card is issued. This card has the borrowing or buying capacity equivalent to the funds deposited. The good thing with prepaid credit card is that it promotes financial discipline. Some prepaid card issuers report to various credit rating agencies, thus it helps in rebuilding your credit history. Apply online at: http://www.credit-card-gallery.com/PrePaid_Card.html and get instance approval. |

To Repair credit score
Your credit score is based mostly on:
1. Length of credit history
2. Payment history.
3. Ratio of credit used to available credit.
4. Number of credit inquiries you authorized.
If you cancel your card, you'll be hurting your credit ratio. (#3).
You want to deliberately keep your oldest credit card open, even if you never use it.
You want to always pay the minimums of each loan on time every month.
You want to keep your available credit high, but actually only have balances equalinig 25% or less.
You want to keep your credit inquiries to a minimum. Try for no more than 3 or 4 per year for any type of loans.
You do these things and your credit score will quickly soar into the 700s.
