The other GUY
I just bought my credit score report for first time in life, is 939 great?
just kidding....I knew it was high but had no idea it was that high!!!

What can I do as far as dealing with lenders with that type of score?
Additional Details
top score according to TransUnion is 990

Fletcher

with a score that high you should be able to get whatever you want from lenders

Anything above 720 is considered excellent credit. You are doing well.

whatevit
Apparently the credit companies have different ratings. I have not known any credit score to be this high.

tabitha
WOW! congratulations that is great

Coolltw2003
you can pretty much do anything you want with that high of a score.

Rita
YES!!!

Terry Z
That's just great! It's much higher than most people's. Most people's credit score is in the 600's. Now, you have to protect your credit record. You do that by always paying your bills on time, not getting too many credit cards or not owing too much on those cards, frequent requests on your credit score also hurt it. (like re-financing a house) Also, remember there are identity theives out there that will hurt your credit score, so about ever 6 months check you credit score to see if someone is fraudulently using your credit. (Someone used mine and bought a new car, and guess who was responsible for the payments since he did not continue to pay-me)

Elijah is right. It's a Vantage score. A 939 would equate, roughly speaking, to an 800 FICO score, or at least one in the high 700's. However I recommend that one not buy any scores other than classic FICO which are only available at http://myfico.com (or at equifax where you can get just the Equifax FICO score).

Sgt. Pepper
I thought 850 was the highest it went...

nighthawk
Pay no mind to these people in here. Yeah 850 is what they know, but Transunion does score it to 990

Great job.

PS, they are just jealous.

Elijah
Note that the score you are reporting is a Vantage Score rather than a FICO score. Part of the reason others are accusing you of having made a mistake or making things up, is that the FICO scores only go up to 850. FICO scores have been around for decades, and are still the scores most lending institutions use when determining who to give loans to and at what rates (of course, other factors besides your score factor in as well, e.g. current salary). The Vantage score is still quite new and is a cooperative effort between some of the credit bureaus (trying to take away business from Fair Isaac, who creates the FICO scores). Whether the Vantage score will be able to become widely accepted is still unknown.

Personally, I'm kind of annoyed that when I bought my 'credit score' from Experian, I got a Vantage score instead of a FICO score and I couldn't find an option to request the FICO one from them. Given that FICO scores are the widely used ones right now (which you can tell pretty easy by the other responses you've gotten), I'd way rather know that score of mine.

Anyway, Vantage scores range from 501-990, and your score is in the A range, which is great. Mine's in the mid 800's, placing it in the B range (I don't have any negatives on the report, but apparently I don't have enough different kinds of debt, don't have newly added credit, my oldest credit card isn't old enough, etc.). FICO scores range from 300 to 850. I've seen one online article suggesting that you can multiply your Vantage Score by 0.86 to get a rough indication of what your FICO score would be, though remember that's only a rough estimate given that the formulas used to calculate scores are different.

You can get a lower interest rate, certainly. In the future, go to annualcreditreport.com. You can check your score for free, it is run by the government, they require credit agencies to give you a free report once a year.

I thought the highest a FICO score went was 850!!! ?????

I thought a credit score only went to 850

ranges of Experian: 300 – 850, TransUnion: 336 – 843, Equifax: 300 – 850.

PLUS Score developed by Experian, use similar information and are roughly comparable.

* PLUS Score
A credit score developed by Experian, calculated based on information contained in an individual credit file PLUS Score can range from 330 to 830, with a higher score indicating lower credit risk. The formula used to calculate your PLUS Score is based on the most current consumer information available, using a similar formula to those used by lenders.

Your credit score can change daily as your credit file is updated, so it is calculated at the time a lender requests your credit report and reflects your current credit standing. The information in your credit files at the different credit bureaus may vary, which means that your scores may be different for each bureau, including your PLUS Score.

850 is tops....and you can get a free credit check online

Common Sense
939 sounds really high..

i thought 850 was the highest possible. With over 820 you should be able to get a mortgage without the need for showing proof of job income and money in the bank. That's called A-paper. That score of 939 sounds inaccurate. You better have that double checked.

If you go to a lender and tell him/her that you have a credit score of 939 they will automatically think that you are either an idiot or a scam artist since the highest credit score you can obtain is 850. In my line of work I deal with credit scores every day and I have NEVER come across anyone with an 850 score. The only person I know with a score approaching that is my wife's Aunt Pat. And she has never had a negative mark on her credit report. Of course she is a CPA and knows ALL the tricks to maintaining a high credit score. It is theoretically possible to obtain an 850 by the age of 34 but after 35 your score drops because of your age if you open any line of credit. Hardly seems fair but it is true.

If you have any questions regarding credit issues you may email me at nebula7693@yahoo.com

singledad
Kelly H.'s answer below is correct, its not possible to have a score of over 850.
try telling any lender that score and they won't do anything for you except show you the door.
