community credit when you are married.
If one ruins the credit- you both are accountable... |

Yes,
After a period of time, marital debts irregardless of whose name is on the card shows up on either credit reports. |

Yes, if you are an authorized user, it will show on your report. But you are not responsible for the account. |

Yes, if you are an authorized user, it will be on your report. You will note that it probably indicates somewhere that it is a joint account, or that you are just a signer.
No worries.
And to the other posters - it doesn't matter if you are married, or whatever. If you are an authorized user on someone's account (mother, father, bf, gf, aunt - whatever), it will show up on your credit report. |

That is what they do when you are put on someone's account/credit card. |

If he added you as an "authorized user" then yes, it would be on your credit. I was surprised when this happened to my husband (who was then just my boyfriend.) He was older and thus got a better rate on a rental car, so I ordered an extra CC with his name on it...and now my account shows up on his credit report.
I have no idea if it helps your score or not-- like if they consider all those payments I made as good payments for him too. I hope so! |

Yes it is because the credit card is under both of ur names which means both of ur credits. He might be the primary and u the secondary or Vise verse |

Yes, if both your names were used on the application. |

If you are a joint card member on his account then it will come up on your credit report. But if you just have a card which he may have requested at the time of activation then they will remove it if that is the case. There a difference between joint card member and requesting another card in your name. Just ask the merchant to remove it off, pretty easy! |

First, you are married, it will reflect on you. Second, anything your name is on will reflect on your credit. |

If you are both listed on a credit card or you have even used his once you are under his credit report as well as him yours. |

Yup! Once you're married, you take on eachothers credit. Especially because your name is on the card. |

I'm a loan officer with a mortgage lender.
This actually sounds correct. When pulling your credit report, if you are married you will notice that you have an area for joint accounts you have with your spouse (most common being mortgage and auto loans) and a section with just your credit accounts. Because your name is given as an authorized user on his account you are also liable in the eyes of the creditor for payment of the balances.
PS: Just to clear up a fallacy some people hear keep writing, just because you get married doesn't mean you automatically appear on each others credit accounts. I view people's credit everyday and very few accounts show us as "joint accounts" on their credit. I also have to be careful when discussing credit with married couple as sometimes they have accounts reporting on their report that the other is not aware of. |

Yes, the same thing happened to me. My credit wasn't bad when I married my husband I just didn't really have any so he put me on his card to help me establish credit and it now shows up on my report. If he keeps the payments current then that's a good thing for you, if not then it's not so good. |

you may have opened the account in both names. Sometimes credit agencies will get information mixed up. Ex: my father and I have the same name (I am a Jr.). Some of his credit shows up on my report. The credit agency may have put the information on your report due to the fact you that you have same last name and the same address. It shouldn't be a problem as long as he pays on time.

Yes, since you are married your credit is linked. In most states you are equally responsible for any debt incurred during the marriage even if you don't have a card and are not on the account. |
|

Since your name is on one his account it should appear on your report.
You can write to have the card cancelled and send a copy of the cancellation letter to the credit reporting agency. |
|

buhash06

Because your name is on the account it is held as your credit too. |
|

Froggy
|
Yup...that's right. It's called "joint". Your debt becomes his, and his becomes yours. Anything accrued after you were married, is for both of you & will show up on both of your credit reports. It might just not be reporting yet on his, but it will be. |

It depends on what state you live in. Some states are community property states. |
