Make small purchases. If you cannot pay the balance in full every month.. then you should pay more than what the minimum payment shows. So if the bill says bay $20.. pay $40.. at the least. Do not max out your credit card.
Use your credit for gas purchases.. etc.
I'd wait between 6 months to about a year .. to establish credity history. Make sure your payments are on time. And again... do not max out your credit card... and don't carry a high balance. |

It takes a while to build up a credit history, One tip is to keep your balance around 40% of your credit limit. This shows that you are financially responsible, because you can handle having debt, but you don't go crazy with it.
Also, be sure to pay on time!!!!!! |

Always pay off your balance at the end of every month. If you don't, you will end up like I did. In $30,000 worth of debt!!!! |

Absolutely pay it off each month, an even sneakier way is to pay it off before the statement dates (not due dates) so that your statements show a zero balance. This helps your credit rating greatly as it gives you a low debt to credit lin ratio!
Your credit score will take roughly 3 months to show up from the time the card was opened. Keep your score good and if you want to have a little pull, go with the bank that you have your accounts with for the loan and make sure to negociate!!! If they won't give you the loan you want (rates, amounts) make sure they know that you will shop around, they will be easier to negociate with.
Banks make money off loans, so they want your business! |

Please use your credit wisely! It can be your friend, or your worse enemy.
It will take about 1 year to get a solid credit history. They prefer 2 years, but you can do it on one and sometimes less.
Charge only small amounts on the card every month and pay it all off monthly. Use the card only as a means to get to the point where you can lease a car. That's your goal.
Those little green "paid on time" squares will start showing up on your credit report, showing you handle credit well.
Then, when you're ready to lease, they will pull your report and see that you are responsible with debt repayment! |

Use your credit card wisely! Don't rack up a lot of debt on it. Use it enough to show that you have the responsibility to use it and not get yourself into debt that you can not pay off within a one-two month period. I would assume that it will take a few months to build enough credit that it would impact your credit rating, however, you may be able to lease a car without waiting on that. Have you tried? You may be approved anyway. |

My only advice is the obvious: Be sensible with it. Keep track of your expenditures and make sure you can make the repayments. If this can be achieved credit company's will increase your limit and you will get a positive credit rating which on a financial aspect, in regards to loans etc is what you want and is a VERY GOOD thing. As far as the leasing goes I have never done anything like that so I can't say, what I can say is I have made large purchases, paid it off well in time, made my repayments etc in turn Ive gained a higher limit (+$10,000) which has allowed me the opportunity to make purchases straight away which I normally wouldnt be able to. I could waffle on all day about stuff but check this site and look up what you think is relevant to you.

use it wisely, and only put on the credit card what you think you can pay at the end of the month (the due date on the monthly statement). Don't fatten the bank's bank account with fees. It seems that troubled times are ahead (economy), so use it wisely and keep your money to yourself.
Usually the credit cards are reported immediatelly to the credit agencies (US). But wait for at least 6 mo for others creditors (auto loan) to see a good standing on your account.
A good thing would be to get your credit report for free, and monitor your credit activity yourself. Again, we are talking USA. We are allowed by law to be given one free credit report per year from every credit agency. So you can stagger them and get them every 4 month (say May 1st Experian, Sep 1st Transunion, Jan 1st Equifax, and again My 2nd Experian and so on). That's all you need: the report (the score is not free) to see your credit account are being reported properly.
the link is:
https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp
this is the "official" free credit report website.
Others are just promising (free trials) and in the end you pay for them. |

I heard it's good to save the money you were gonna use to pay your bills and necessary things like that and use your credit card instead, once 2 or 3 weeks have passes get the money you saved and pay off your credit card complete, that way you will not be charged interest and the credit companies see that as a sign that you use credit but you surely pay it off soon after and if you are not gonna pay it off soon I suggest you don't use it, don't go crazy and make sure you use it for emergencies only. Good luck. |
