I missed my credit card payment with AMEX by 2 days, how bad will my credit score be?
Unfortunately this is my first card and my first month payment that I missed as well.

Your credit score will nto be affected. That only gets affected if you are more than 30days late, that is when the systems report it and is also the first "Late" that the Bureaus allow.
THe lates are "30", "60", "90", "120", and "CO"(ChargeOff).

Anybody that tells you that they do not report negatives to the credit bureaus until your account is "terminated" or "3months late" either does not know what they are talking about or has never checked their credit report.

What you will probably get though is a late payment fee. One way to avoid this in the future is to pay it on time, another way is to setup a pre-authorized withdrawal for the minimum payment each month, that way at least the minimum is paid even if you forget.

Try to pay your payments on time, but if you are 2 days late, don't worry about it. You may pay a late fee, or interest fees, but paying 2 days late isn't going to hurt your credit score. In fact, google credit score, because there is a lot of things that impact your credit score, and being a new credit card owner, you should be aware of them. ex. When you apply for credit cards, companies view your credit history, which is marked as an inquiry on your credit report, and too many inquiries, lower your credit score.

Npt good, amex dont muck around, have seen people sent to the wall over small debts, get rid of them cause they usually want all the money at a time and if you lose you job they will cancel the card without any hesitation, get a visa or mastercard, much safer and they let you pay it off, dont be a slave to the interest, and amex is one of the worst!

It won't effect your credit score - most cards have a grace period. 2 days won't make any difference.

You may get a reminder notice, but usualy not until you are 2 wks behind, you would have to fall into default before it affects your credit rating, default is when they terminate your account and demand the money back, and that is usualy not until you have missed 3 consecutive monthly payments (in a row).
Like most I too have credit cards and have learnt the hard way :o)

I wouldn't be too concerned. What I would do is get on the phone right away and get the name of the customer rep.. Apologize profusely for the "Oversight", and confirm with them that there will not be any "Blight" on your credit rating. You should be all right. Do an inquiry a month later at your credit bureau, "Just to make Sure", no blight exists, and make sure you don't miss any more.

Companies do not report to the credit bureau until you are 30 days delinquent. You will be responsible for late charges.

Grandpa
i won't effect it now if not paid at all then it would effect it a never paid so you are all right

Crazyjester9
Late payments don't effect your credit score UNLESS you are 30+ days late.
