Find out from the mortgage lender how your name got on this account. I don't know what your relationship is like with your mother but you probably don't want to report her for fraud if she did use your information to get a house. I would suggest having the mortgage company send you a copy of the signed loan docs and then confront your mother with them. Get her to refinance it in her own name. The neat thing is the house is probably yours and you would have the right to sell the property or rent out extra rooms in it. Of course if you don't have a good relationship you could always verify the fraudulent nature of the debt and prosecute for identity theft.

File a dispute with the credit reporting agency. I would also contact the mortgage company that is listed on your credit report and find out why they are saying that it was you who took out the mortgage.

Dispute the item with the credit bureau as not being yours. That should get it removed. It's probably just a keying error.

Will depends on if you are okay with getting your mother in trouble for fraud...
I would first get the info for the mortgage company and write them a dispute letter. There is specific wording you should use, go to this site for help: http://www.debt-n-credit-letters.com/
This site also sample letters (at the bottom) for lots of situations.
Once you get verification of the debt from the mortgage company you can decide from there...

The credit report that you have should have a number to call if any information on it is incorrect. May be she listed you as the co-owner; you still need to get it taken care of.

Just call one of the credit bureuas and they will help you sort it out. They are more helpful than you think and that is probably the best way to go about doing it.
