I've recently turned 18 and the only form of credit i have is a contract phone, i really need a Â£1700 asap and im finding it really hard to get credit! Any ideas!?

Approach loan companies with caution. Do not apply for too many in a short time. Each credit search shows up on your credit score and does you no good in the short term.

Since you are a poor risk (ironically once you've got a loan you are a better risk) you may need to go to a company like Beneficial Finance or Provident where the interest rate is 30%+, then 6 months down the line, assuming you have paid on time, you'll be able to get a cheaper loan rate. Beneficial are backed by HSBC and specialise in poor risk loan situations.

Try applying for some credit cards. However, at the same rate, you will be charges exorbitantly high interest rates due to your lack of credit. Try to get a cosigner for one of your cards or see if you can get added onto one of your parents or sibling's cards.

Try a credit union. They are more reasonable when considering applicants and have lower intrest rates.

Banks are not anxious to give out large unsecured loans to 18 year olds without income or assets. Would you be?

The first person is right. Take it slow and see what happens.

There are some important points to be discussed here-
1. Bank will not pay you such amount of loan even at the cost of high apr.
2. You also have poor credit condition.

Most of the creditors will work with you on your payments. I think you should go to your bank or call your creditor to talk with someone there.
