Co-signed loans appear on both peoples credit either with a J for joint or a C for co-sign under the lenders name. Nobody who looks at your credit knows who is the primary and who is the secondary.
As a co-signer you are fully responsible for this debt if your Sister doe's not pay. Since it's a co-signed loan you should both be on the title. Go and take the vehicle away from your Sister and start making the payments yourself until you can sell it or make some other arrangement. Your good credit depends on it. |

It is ruining both of your credit. contact the lender and tell them the circumstances, they might understand. |

Your sister already has bad credit as far as this situation goes. You are in danger or having bad credit if you don't pay this bill for her. Co-signing means you promise to pay the bill for the account holder if she fails to make payment at anytime. You should never ever co-sign anyone who will be irresponsible like this, doesn't matter if it's a family member. Because you co-signed her, you are responsible to pay for it. Your going to have to apply for a loan to make payment. I suggest you talk to your sister maturely. You can go ahead & make payment from a loan (if you get approved) & make your sister pay you back. That's the only solution I have for you. Don't let your credit go sour because of this bill & your anger towards your irresponsible sister. If you choose to ignore it, expect to suffer in the future with bad credit. Do something about it now before it's too late. You can't get out of co-signing anymore. |

Well, the best thing to do would be to call a financial advisor, or someone at a bank in the loans department. I am almost positive that someone would be willing to explain to you what will happen, and what you need to do.
THis is my opinion though. You co-signed for what reason? Incase she can't pay! And that is exactly what is happening. So yes, you are liable to make the full payments. Your credit is being hurt. It does depend on what you bought, and how much it is though. So no worries if it's just like some couch or something.
What do to? Call your sister and don't ***** at her. Just treat her like you want to be treated and nicely and calmy explain to her that your credit is being hurt, and that if you could make the payments, you would, but can't. Let her know that you're sisters and love eachother forever, but there does come a time when she needs to take responsibility for her actions! I'm serious, don't freak at her, she will get mad and rebellious. Try taking whatever it is back too. Good luck |

hahah You just co-signed for a ruined credit history. YOU have to pay in order to keep your credit good. Unfortunately, you'll suffer the payments while keeping your piggy sister's credit good too.
What did she buy? Can you get it? You made a huge mistake and there is NO way out.
Ummm. how do you co-sign for a worthless, no-good sister, and you don't work? Well, you better get a job fast because that bad credit you are getting right now will follow you for the next 7 - 10 years.
Move far, far away from your family and never talk to them again, please. |

The above answers are correct. Please take the advice and call those creditors. Don't trust your sister to do it. You may be surprised how flexible they are when it comes to getting payments settled. They will work something out for you. |

u should never co-sing anything for anyone.... I think u should talk to your sis and see whats going on because this is hurting your credit and hers.. |

YOU ARE SOL! You're a co-signer and you're responsible for the payment, they can treat you the same way they treat your sister and come after you for collection, if you dont pay they'll sue you or put a lean on your property, call your sister and tell her to get off her A$$ and pay you or pay them or contact the lender and work something out. |

Yes it is both you and your sister will both have the negative information. So I don't need to go into the hazards of Co-Signing for someone as you have found that out.
You either will need to get your sister to pay up or try to work out a plan with the creditor. |

You are BOTH equally responsible for payment of this debt---and both will suffer the consequence a bad mark on your credit reports---the BIGGER problem is that with bad credit, you will not be able to GET credit when you might really need it----especially if you are not working....If your sister is WORKING, you MIGHT be able to get the creditor to garnish her wages, whereby a set amount is taken from every paycheck BEFORE your sister gets her checks and given to the creditor until the debt is paid in full..---A lot of creditors are not willing to do this so quickly as it costs THEM court fees up front and that is money they get back LATER through the garnishments, but creditors don't usually like having to SPEND money to GET money.. but, it wouldn't hurt to call the creditor to see if something like that could be worked out IF your sister is working....other then that, you are just as responsible for the debt and I would suggest to you or ANYONE---DO NOT CO-SIGN A LOAN or NOTE FOR ANYONE.....!!!!! It's a lesson you now have learned the hard way... |

what did you sign? usually if it's for a credit card/bank/car loan/ house loan, both parties are responsible, even if she is the only one using it. so yes it effects both your credit scores. what you want to do, if you have no job right now and depending on how much in debt you are, you can either file bankruptcy, or call and have card/bank account cancled. or have your name taken off the account/loan whatever. by filing bankrupty your name will not be affilated with debts. but bankruptcy does show on your credit report and that's not a good thing. and i wouldn't file bankruptcy unless you are really in debt like 30,000+ if you don't file bankruptcy, contact the places she owes, i'm sure they are willing to set up any payment arragenments. or contact a consolidator, those places usually accept any type of amount you can make towards the debt owed, and usually the places where you owe the debt cannot refuse the amount. (as some dont allow less than $15/month.) the last one, you should do it take your name off the account. as long as you make full payment on it, your name will not be a red flag, but your credit score may be lower than before, but you have to build that up regardless. and don't sign for anyone else any more, b/c you are responsible for their actions. i hope this helps. good luck. |
