Go to freecreditreport.com. They let you look at your score once a year without paying. Make sure you either write everything down or print it out because you will have to pay if you want to see it again. |

Most sites on the Internet are going to charge you a fee, because you're asking them to do what you could do for free. All three credit bureaus will send you a copy of your credit report if you simply ask. You can get only one free report a year, unless you've been turned down for credit...then they must tell you why you've been denied. Be warned that no company can repair bad credit, no matter what they say. Good luck! |

Your bank can give you your credit score for free..... especially if they think you will be borrowing the money from them....Why would you pay someone money for this over the internet and expose all of this private information to a site that may or not be trusted.. Then how do you know that site does not sell off all this info to statistologists.... USE THE Bank.. |

GeeDub beat me to it, but yes, freecreditreport.com is great. You can get your report from the 3 big agencies, and see what exactly is on your report. I don't think the give the actual score. I used it because I was bored one day and found that I had 2 collection agencies, as well as a card compnay that was charging me interest and penalties on a closed account. I was able to clear the collections and filed a dispute through freecreditreport that cleared up the card mess.
They will proably want a fee to see your actual score, but you'll get all the info that factors into the score. |

You are entitled to a free CREDIT REPORT in all 50 states once a year by each credit angency,(www.anualcreditreport.com) however in 48 states you have to pay for a score.
Don't use the bank though sometimes they can cause a HARD inquiry and lower your score when they check it, because they are checking it as a potential lender. |

If you log on to www.ftc.gov (Federal Trade Commission) they have a link to access your FREE ANNUAL CREDIT REPORT. With no Credit Card sign up or trial membership. SO....go to www.ftc.gov and on the left hand side under HOT TOPICS you will see a link to FREE ANNUAL CREDIT REPORT in a blue box just click on that box and follow the link! Good luck! |

nnualcreditreport.com gives everyone 1 free credit report a year. You have to answer questions to make sure you're really you. I've been improving my credit on my own for the last month and a half. I went to the bureaus individual sites and ordered my reports and scores and printed them off. (yes it did cost) I then wrote letters about the ones I fond to be wrong. There were collection accounts that should have rolled off, there was a late payment on my car that wasn't true, and there were accounts that were being reported as open and they shouldn't have been. That was Sept. 5. When I got a response from Transunion Oct.3 ( I think) my score had went up 57 points because they fixed it. The others went up also, but not by that much. Usually if you take the time to sit down and write letters, keep good records and be persistant you can clear up things on your own.
I sent all my letters by certified mail, no return receipt. This is just so I can look it up and know exactly when they got it. Because I ordered online I could also dispute online. I did this too, actually this may have been what helped me. Disputing the same things twice, it may have confused them a little and one slid through because they deleted and account that should have stated but I'm not complaining. Good Luck. |
