Discover is one of the most difficult credit cards to get. Basically you need excellent credit to get one. Capital One has cards for limited credit. If you have no credit history you should try Orchard Bank.

Some retail and gasoline credit cards are not revolving (do not carry a monthly balance) and sometimes are easier to obtain than regular cards. Over time they can help establish history. If you don't have a checking account, open one. You have very little credibility with lenders if you don't have at least a checking account and preferably a savings account as well. Just as importantly, be sure not to overdraw your bank account. Bouncing checks sends a signal to potential lenders that you can't manage your daily finances and are therefore not a good credit risk.

i have had a similar problem. my problem though was that someone used my credit, which is why credit cards kept on denying me. Make sure your credit is clear before attempting to get a credit card.
you can do this on transunion.com.
and try out for some "student" credit cards. they are regular credit cards, but the credit company knows you dont have credit because your a student, so they are easier to retrieve.
also, try to choose a credit card company that has low apr. APR is the interest youll pay for each item. the lowest i could get, becasue i dont have much credit, was 19%.
so if i miss a payment or pay the minimum [which you never wanna do]. i have to pay the apr, plus the original balance.
all credit card companys are differenent, but i went with capital one.
but dont expect a balance of 1000 dollars on you first card. usually its about 200-300 dollars. =]
--to build your credit, you just have to use your card. but make sure you have the money in a bank to actually pay off the card. |

first try to apply with a department store credit card. now these will have very high rates so buy small and pay on time. you will not build good credit over night. another idea is to ask your bank about a CD loan, that will help build credit also. banks also have credit cards you can apply for so if you're established with a good bank then that is another option |

Without knowing your age, of if you are student. I will just assume. If you are a student usually you can get a student credit card with a $500 credit limit. |

Most of the time if you apply for a regular credit card and you have no credit you're going to get denied. Usually your best bet is to either contact your bank to see if they can offer you anything, or you can do a random search on yahoo for credit cards for people with no credit. There are a lot of websites out there that list a lot of cards and give you details about each of them. There are many credit cards for people with limited or no credit. You can probably expect to have a fairly high interest rate and a low credit limit, but pay the bill on time for a few months and it'll get the ball rolling on having good credit. |

when i first started out, i was told to get a gas credit card, that is something you need and wont spend the money on things you really dont need. Just make sure you make the payments on time, because they will report it on your credit report. Also dont go overboard with credit cards there is such a thing as having to much on credit and that can hurt you. Even if you dont have a vehicle now you could always use the card as gas money for a ride here and there. Everyone says gas credit cards are the easiest to get, just watch they increase the limits quickly if you make the payments on time. Watch how many credit apps you put in because they will effect your credit score negatively, and dont bother to apply to any gold or platnium at this time. hope this helps |

i would apply for a credit card through capital one. They have great options and should you get one here's some great advice.
Whatever you buy with it. Pay it off in full when you get your bill. Keep doing this for about 6 months to a year, then don't use it anymore. Call them up and request a payoff balance, pay it off in full and tell them you'd like to cancel your card. That will help you establish your credit.
Don't apply for cards with fees associated with obtaining them...yearly, monthly fees etc. you can find this out in the information they mail you.
Be careful...credit cards can be lethal...if you don't know what you're doing. |

I was offered a discover card about a year ago because I wanted to establish credit and they approved my ap with only $1000 credit limit. I would imagine that you will find one that will approve you, it may just take a couple of tries. You should be happy discover denied you, they are a terrible company and have bogus charges for everything. |

Talk to your banker. They should have some suggestions for you. Be sure and pay close attention to the fine print, you dont want any unexpected fees with your new credit card. Be careful and only use it for needs and not wants. |

i think have a credit card is not a good idea, for right now. (depends on how old you are). i got one awhile ago and got a little carried away and now i owe $900.00. if you and your parents co-sign for a car you would not need a credit card. |

What bank do you have? banks offer a credit builder credit card. Go to your bank and ask. If you dont have a bank, well where do you take your pay checks? stop that, and go to real bank! Lol, if you dont have a job then you cant get one trust me. OK so like I have wellsfargo and the second i opened my acct. they said, hey get this credit card. it will build your credit, and you get rewards. well it was dumb but good at the same time. I use to have a 600 dollar credit line and from all my good payments they boosted that. So i use it and it helps but you can get into debt easily. so becareful! Also dont let people say you dont need one becuase thats a lie you do. Just not 5-20 of them. Lol thats pointless unless you are really good at keeping track of money and dont spend ridiculous amounts. SO Go to your bank and ask. They also have a down payment credit card that you pay in advance to start your credit then you get the money back later. Its confusing but check it out. Go to your bank and ask. Good Luck! =) |

Lots of banks are offering credit cards these days. If you have an account with one it should be easier to get. |

You can try getting a store credit card. Home Depot, Sears, any large chain. Be careful with it, as they often have very high interest charges. Buy some items, and pay off the balance every month. This will help you build your credit rating. Once you have a good credit rating, you'll be able to more easily get a Visa/MasterCard/Discover credit card. |

I got my first credit card at Nordstroms, try that. Don't use it too much thought because your first card will always have a HUGE interest rate. Also, you might want to go to the bank. They can help you with first time credit, especially for students. |

You get credit by paying your bills on time every month. You won't get credit for a very long time. If you want a car then open a checking account/savings account and start saving. |

well the reason they probably rejected you is bc you shouldnt charge a car on credit right now. it will rack up your bill way to fast!! |
