SWEETSTEPH | I need to clean up my credit report how should I do that pay someone? |
|

Nobody can clean up your credit. You can only improve your credit score by starting today and pay your bills on time. Before starting to pay off all your debt have a small emergency fund of $500-1000 so you don't have to go back into debt because your furnace went out or you need a new alternator in the car.
Don't call all creditors at the same time otherwise you are waking up all the beasts. Work with one creditor at a time BUT pay minimum payments on all debts and pay extra on the one you make a deal with. When that first one is paid off, call the next debt. Go smallest debt to largest debt so you see immediate results and it will keep you motivated.
Also, "credit counseling" be careful. Many of these will hurt your credit and show on your credit report just like you went through bankruptcy.
For more information go to www.daveramsey.com. In the first 5 months of working his plan we paid off $13,000 in debt. |

you can not pay someone to clean up your credit report. The only way is to reistablish your credit. Apply for a secured card, and show the creditors you can pay on time and under the limit. Looks better if you pay in full each month. Never pay late! After 30 days, it gets put on your credit report. |

There are a few things you should do. First get a current copy of your credit report from the 3 major credit reporting agencies. Each cover a different general region.
You will need to send out a letter to each creditor you wish to pay off and set up a payment arrangement with them. Some (the smaller amounts) can be paid off in one payment.
After that, review what is on each report and work on paying off what you can. Some people will say to pay off the bigger amounts first, other will say pay off the smaller. My suggestion is to pay on the ones you can afford.
The three major credit reporting agencies are TransUnion and Experion, and ExquiFax. It will take between 2 to 3 weeks to recieve your credit report from them. And its free.
The best thing would be to get the assistance of an attorney. He/she can make all the arrangements and work with you on making the payments.
There are also a number of Credit Counseling services in most major cities today. This service will review what your credit report says and set up a payment plan for you. Then all you have to do is send one check or money order in and they do the rest. Normally they try and help clear up your credit within 1 to 2 years time. Depending on your credit problems this will vary |

you are allowed one free credit report from each credit bureau per year. go to www.annualcreditreport.com to get yours online or by mail. write to each creditor and request that they update/change/investigate the charges on your report. the website I mentioned offers sample letters and thorough FAQs. |

http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/credit/repair.htm Take close note of this particular site...it clearly indicates the problems and falicies associated with companies proclaiming to be able to correct your credit.

Credit counselling bureaus might be of some assistance, however be prepared to be placed on a very stringent budget and if you have outstanding debts, you'll likely make payments directly to them (depending on your situation). Be wary however if they should contact you months down the road to state they've uncovered another debt...to which they expect you to pay for an additional time frame beyond the one you agreed to initially.
I know of someone who has been handling her mothers affairs. The mother was being swindled by her own children and was in debt to the tune of over $30,000.. she didn't work and at the time had absolutely no income. How they managed their little spending sprees I don't know but the credit counselling firm tidied up all of her debts only to come back to her a year and a half later claiming that another $3000 debt had been uncovered to which she would be expected to pay an additional 60 months worth of payments. The debt falls into the Statute of limitations and I informed the woman to request written documentation that verified the debt in question. To date they've not produced this info and have not contacted her since her informing them of her knowledge pertaining to the statute.
Be very wary of people claiming to be able to repair your credit to remove all damaging information. The best and safest way to tackle your credit history is to walk through the steps yourself ... this will ensure that you'll get the results you want, it will cost you next to nothing except your time and energy and you'll do a more thorough job than a complete stranger would, who has perhaps 20 or 30 other such cases on his plate.
Good luck |

You can't pay anyone. Those are scams. The only way is to quit using credit cards, pay your bills on time and let time heal your issues.

Companies offering "Credit repair" is bullshiat.
Even the website notes that THERE IS NO GUARANTEE. If it's so good, then find a company that promises results FIRST and THEN charge you for their services.
The best way, noted above, is to re-establish and get rid of any outstanding collections on your reports.
Don't go to www.freecreditreport.com since they will only give you your credit reports for signing up for their lame "watch" service.
Go to the Federal www.annualcreditreport.com and they will send you all three for free, no strings attached. |

I heard those are rip offs. What I did I took out a few small loans and paid them early. I took out a pager from Verizon which was on a contract and paid it up for a year. After a while I applied for service with Nextel I got approved with no money upfront and I always pay up in full. |
