Go to creditcards.com and look for the credit cards that are for bad credit or build credit. They come with a balance but they are the only one that will give you credit. |

the best way to get a CC is to start out with a department store card. After a few months CC companies will be sending you offers like crazy. Good luck! |

Talk to the bank you have your checking and savings accounts at. They can let you know what your options are. A Macy's card would improve your credit provided you always pay on time and don't keep much of a balance (none is best). |

I would first recommend going to annualcreditreport.com first... there you can see your credit report from all 3 reporting agencies for free once a year... there may be something on there keeping you from being approved.... after that you can start applying... but do not apply with too many places, as each inquiry places a mark on your credit report, and other banks look at that negatively.... |

That happened to me all the time for like two years, no credit card would accept me because I had no credit history. But I didn't give up. I applied for a gas card. The BP visa card. They start you off with a limit of $500.00 but it's pretty good for a beginner like me. I love my credit card it makes me feel more responsible, I was so excited to have my first credit card! I've had it for about a month now. You can apply for this same card at www.chase.com/bp

It depends on why you are denied. If it's because you have no credit, you may want to have a parent or someone cosign for a card for you. The other option is to find a place that has a secured credit card - you mail in your money, usually $500, and get a card. Then, after a year or two, if you've paid on time, they'll grant you an unsecured card. |
