A little history on the matter:
I opened up a Disney rewards card back in 2007 which I never used until almost two years ago. I screwed it up really bad and went over my limit and was about to go to collections.
I set up auto payments with them of $50.00 each month and all was fine.
A few months ago I received a letter informing me that my account was past due which couldn't be possible because of the auto payments. When I called they said there was no payment received for April and a late fee was added. I explained that it wasn't my fault and they agreed to remove the late fee as long as I payed the account in full which was about $60.00 give or take a few cents.
Now that I called to get replacement cards they tell me I owe $14.00. How??
When I asked they gave me the same excuse, that it was the late fee, that it still was in my account and that I had to pay. They refuse to remove it and say that if I don't pay my account will go overdue again. I really can't do this again, I want to put this past me. I'm on a budget and I can't afford to pay $14.00 right now no matter how small the amount may seem, plus, I don't think it's fair that they're making me pay this when it wasn't my fault.
Do I have a way out of this? |

It is your fault and they should not give you a new card even if you do pay the $14, which you must pay whether or not you get the card.
The rules for auto-payments very clearly state that they cannot guarantee that auto-payments will continue to work forever and that you are responsible for checking every month to make sure that the auto-payment went through, and making the payment manually if it did not, and that if you do not do this, then your account will be past due, it will be your fault, and you will have to pay a late fee. |

try to write a formal letter to them , addressed to the account manager and explain everything with as much accuracy and detail as possible. Don't be mean or angry in the letter, but be clear about your points. |
