for example I have a $500 spending limit which I have spent when will I get the $500 back do I have to pay it back first or what |

I'm not sure what you mean here, have you already spent the $500 limit on your card? If so its best to pay that off as soon as possible, and going forward as a rule never spend more than you can pay off in a short period of time.
If you have spent the whole $500, you can not use the card again until you pay it down.
Congratulations you are now in debt! |

wow. Sorry sugar, but I don't think you should have a credit card. You have to pay the balance off in full for you to get that credit back. Mind you, just because you have a credit card with a $500 limit doesn't mean you have $500. You are borrowing that money. With interest, if you buy something for $100, you'll end up paying like $150 when they start tacking on that interest.
no offense, but you sound kind of clueless about this. Please talk to someone, like your parents, so they can tell you the ins and outs of credit cards before you get yourself in trouble. PLEASE. |

You don't get anything back from a credit card. You use it like cash, and pay the bill when it comes in. The $500 limit merely means you can charge no more than $500.
If you owe $495, you only have $5 left. As you pay it off your available credit increases. Make the payments on time, and they will eventually increase your limit.
The best way to build your credit, and generally to use any credit card, is to go ahead and use it as you would use cash, and then pay the balance in full when the bill comes in. Otherwise you are paying 'rent' on the money in the form of interest. If you can't pay in full, at least pay over the minimum and cut back on the use of the card until you can pay it off. |

This question really concerns me a lot. Because there are a lot of people just like you who get cards and don't know how they work, and it will get you into trouble if you don't know how to use them the "right" way.
First, as others have said, it's a loan. If you PAY IT ALL OFF when the bill comes in, you won't have to pay any interest on a balance. So, PAY IT OFF entirely.
Also, you might well have an annual fee up to possibly 69 dollars or so, and that might be on your bill too.
Some bad credit card companies will let you spend over your limit too. But they will charge you a fee if you do that. So be REAL careful about that.
And some companies will charge you around 1% on every purchase you make at the time of purchase, regardless of if you pay off your balance each month. So, find out if that's the case. And if it is, try to get a different card that doesn't do that, as soon as you can.
Best thing to remember is this: Never go over your limit. And always pay off your balance in full. This will help you tremendously later on in building up your credit score and credit history. |

The company is loaning you that money that you have to pay back plus interest. If you spend $500.00 and the interest rate is 12.9% you are paying an additional $64.50 in charges after you pay off the $500.00. I would advise not using it at all or paying it off in full monthly. Credit cards are nothing but trouble. Be responsible with them. |

As you pay back the money your spending limit increases. You will not have a $500 spending limit again until your dept reaches zero. |

Why would you get a credit card if you don't even know how it works? |

I'm not sure why anyone would get a card without fully understanding how it works, but here goes! You are borrowing money to make those purchases. An interest rate will be charged for borrowing this money. this is usually in your credit agreement and it's called the APR for Annual Percentage Rate.
There is a grace period where for usually 25 days after the purchases you pay no interest on what you borrow, after the grace period, interest begins to apply. Pay your bill by the date in your statement on the due date!! This will be key to keeping a good credit score!
The minimum payment will keep you financed for a long time so make sure you pay off your balance as quickly as you can.
For instance, since you have it maxxed out already, it is recommended that you pay $100.00 per due date to generate a credit rating and not finance your purchases for a long time.
Go to my website and read it all because you should learn about credit repair and recovery! I hope you never have to use it and at least this way you will know more! You should benefit from the "how credit scoring works" section too because building a good credit history has already started for you when you activated this card!!!!
Read all of your terms of agreement that came with your card!! This is going to be more important than what others have to say about this! Your card will NOT have arrived without one!
I had to go through ID theft and bankruptcy and i still got my score up from 486 to 730 in a little over a year, so I know about this subject! I hope reading my website about credit repair and what can happen if your not developing good habits can do to your credit rating and score will instill good habits in you! Good Luck!
Here's a tip: Only spend what you can afford! Your spending power does NOT increase just because you have credit! |
