You should have paid your debt. The letter should explain everything to you. |

The summons will answer most of those questions. It should tell you if you have to appear in court, where the court is, when you're supposed to be there and some contact information so that you can get in touch with the court to ask additional questions.
Unless you stole the credit card, you won't go to jail.
Even though it's been three years, you still owe the money - that never goes away.
Good luck. - Stuart |

DO NOT DISREGARD THIS summons at any cost. If you do, the court will slap a default judgment against you and in favor of the creditor. The reason for the summons is that the court is asking you to come and present your case. It would be wise on your part to contact an attorney to help you reply the summons and represent your case in court. |

Contact the phone number provide and set up an installment agreeement. And once set up make your payments. You won't go to jail so relax. Just pay that is the only thing you can do. They might tell you they want all the money owed but if you don't have i am sure they will accept payments.
Good luck, cheer up everything will work out. And hopefully lesson learned. |

Contact the legal representative named on the summons and set up a payment plan. They will work with you. Better to work it out that way than to have it go to court which is what they are planning on doing. |

Does it tell you to contact an attorney? Does it have a court date? They can't take you to jail for debt but they can take things you own. They can put a lien against your home or things you own. Maybe garnish part of your wages. You need to contact them right away. |

If you received a summons, it is because you have long overdue debt on one of your credit cards. You will need to appear in court, so get an attorney to look into it. You will most likely not go to jail unless you are guilty of defrauding the credit card company. All they want is their money. You might get a fine and have to pay the court fees plus what you owe them. |

Many tactics of the credit cards companies or collection agencies are sending bogus summons to pressure you to pay. A summons should have all the information that you are asking
How much money , court date, if any, address, etc.
if it does not have any of these, it is a bogus tactic to collect unpaid debt |

tell em, the terms and conditions are subject to change without notice. You got your money 10x over in interest and i've decided to terminate your contract. The feds can't do jack the credit institutions can only destroy your credit for 7 years. don't let em bully you, they're just cracking down cause of the current credit crisis. Notice they never contacted you in 3 years they wanted to jack up that interest where you will be indebted for the rest of your life. Tell them you will not be taken advantage of by these banking institutions.
NO DON"T SAY THAT but let me know how it goes if they don't lock you up. i'm no lawyer but i don't think they can do much. |

Summons may or may not mean you have to go to court, but your probably does. I don't know the full details--did you fail to pay your bills on time?
First of all, you WILL NOT go to jail. This is all about the money that you owe the company--this will be resolved when they receive their money. Now, just like the other commenter wrote, you need to talk to a lawyer or an adviser or someone who is in a better position about this. Or even call up the number on the summons and ask them questions.
While you probably won't go to jail, you may face difficulties concerning your credit score and possible interest/fines regarding your lack of payment.
Hope this helps! |

If they summoned your in person then there will be a court hearing and if you dont go to it, then most likely it will be turned over to a government collection agency and the govetnment can take alot from you till its paid in full. like tax returns, social security and more. I would read the summons really good and if you cant pay it I would get a lawyer and fight it, or try to work out a payment plan. You wont go to jail!!! |

If it is a summons to appear for a court hearing you need to appear. If you don't apear a bench warrant may be issued for your arrest. If it is a summons for a judgment debtor examination and you don't appear it can result in execution on your assets such as your checking account, savings account of other assets. The best thing to do would be to pay the debt if it is legitimate. |

if you show up at the court the judge will ask you one question: do you have the money to pay the debt? Assuming that you don't, the results will be the same whether you show up or don't: judgment for the plaintiff. Then they can turn it over to a collections agency who will call you all hours of the day and night forever. |
