I signed up on freecreditreport.com?
How do i know if I was enrolled in the 30day free trial subscription? Do they automatically enroll you in that when you check your credit score?

Yes, you're enrolled. Make sure you cancel the service or you'll get billed.

Next time, go to annualcreditreport.com. This is the site where you can obtain a free credit report (with no strings attached) from all 3 of the major credit bureaus.

Yes, they automatically enroll you in the "free trial" period, and will automatically enroll you in the pay program if you don't cancel exactly according to their rules.

heysifti
I think they do. Make sure that you cancel whatever you enrolled in within the 30 days otherwise you'll be billed for the service. Next time use annualcreditreport.com it really is free.

It automatically gives you the free 30 day trial. How they make their money is when you forget when the thirty days have expired. You remember that credit card # they made you enter when you signed up? Yep, they charge that the $9.95 or whatever after 30 days if you don't cancel.

If you do not wish to be charged just call their 1-800 number when you get a chance and cancel your account.

annualcreditreport............is free. no catches.

You can order your credit report, even look at it online, once a
year.

The freecreditreport , while I hate to use the word scam, is a product that is poorly titled. Sure they give you a free credit report (which you can obtain for free from annualcreditreport) but what is a service that monitors your credit report for you to alert you if there is unusual activity going on in your account which MAY signal ID theft.
If you think you are the victim of identity theft you can call the credit reporting agencies yourself and having them put a flag on your account........which means that if anyone tries to open an account in your name they will have to notify you first.

Furthermore, if you have a good credit card company, they will notify you if they see unusual spending patterns as a red flag that someone might be using your credit without your knowledge/permission.

Hey why can't you monitor your report yourself? Order a copy annually (if you apply for credit and get turned down, by law you are entitled to a free credit report) or purchase one they're only about $13.00...........not enough to break the bank.

If you accept that 30 day free trial subscription, they will, by default start billing you on the 31st day...........unless you opt out before the end of the 30 days.

This is a general rule of thumb. Most people dont' realize that if you don't contact them yourself before the end of the "free" trial that this is what happens. They already have your credit card number, and it is alot harder to get that changed after it's been initiated than it is to contact them in the first place and make sure you don't want it.

Good luck.

Yes. This info. is probably included in the fine print.

https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp is the website to use to get your credit reports for free with no strings attached.

"If for any reason you are not satisfied, you can cancel anytime to discontinue your membership to Triple Advantage Credit Monitoring and stop the monthly billing. However, you will not be eligible for a prorated refund of any portion of your current month's paid membership fee. To cancel, please contact Customer Care at 1-877-481-6826."

You don't have to use freecreditreport.com. You can get a free report at each credit report agency. TransUnion, Equifax and Experian

Yes, you will automatically be enrolled in the free trial period. But why not use this service to keep track of your credit? I did because my ID was stolen and if I had credit monitoring i could have headed this off at the pass!

I had to declare bankruptcy after that and I still got my score up from 486 to 730 in a little over a year! Does your credit report contain any negative items? Are any of these Innaccurate, Misleading, Incorrect or Unverifiable? If so, keep this service and clean up your credit if you need it!

Most people have a 76% error rate in their reports and these should be challenged and contested! you could even get them removed! If you crdit report looks good, great keep it that way! Go to my website and read it all because after what I had been through, this is an area I know something about!
