If your reports contain inaccurate information you can dispute it.
I wouldn't suggest using the free FACT-ACT reports or the 3 in 1 reports to base your disputes off of. The free reports gives the credit bureaus an extra 15 days to investigate. Which could make the difference in a inaccurate trade line remaining instead of being removed. The 3 in 1's or trimerge reports are often inaccurate themselves. Order your paid reports from each credit bureau. Opt out. Update your personal info that is on your reports. Dispute by mail, not online.
You might want to go to the site I've listed and start doing some reading in the newbie forum then in the credit forum.
Learn your rights and what constitutes inaccurate information.
It is a "free" site. Never pay a website for info you can get for free. |

Don't listen to the negitivity here.
#1. Go to www.truecredit.com and sign up for all 3 reports plus score. You can pull your credit every 24 hours with this and pay only like $15 a month.
#2. Write letters to all 3 credit reporting agencies and dispute all your old addresses. Enclosed copies of your drivers licence and a copy of your utility bill. This is done so that its harder for collections to verify information.
#3. Dispute all inaccurate info on your credit report. You have everything to gain and nothing to lose. I have seen many things fall off because creditors to not verify the information in the 30 days legally allowable.
#4. Do your research. www.creditboards.com is an excellent place to start.

Are the charges valid? Disputing them won't do a thing if they are valid....
A good way to clean up your credit report is to pay your bills. Stop charging and start paying.
You would be amazed how well it works..

Go to annualcredit report.com...It may take up to three months to clear you report, but its worth a try. I did and my credit score went up. The only downfall is the numerous amount of credit card companies that keep sending you letters saying that you are pre-approved for their card...lol..But that's when you know that you've established better credit. |

Dont do it online, call the 3 credit co. and ask them to send you your free credit report, and when you receive report, call and give your report numbr and despute with report number,
You see they will clean it in 45 days.

Well, if you do have a genuine dispute, you can go to the top three credit company's and dispute it.
However, you have to have a really good case - it's not as easy as disputing everything... |

If you are sincere about cleaning up you credit ratings, if they are bad, be prepared to spend a lot of time doing it. disputing charges for the hell of it is NOT going to work. the creditors are not stupid and the credit raters know that. so think, plan and be patient. you will get there. First thing to do is to get copies of your credit reports. You can go to here to get copies:
http://www.annualcreditreport.com
This web site was set up by government law. Other sites such as freecreditreport.com are ripoff sites that ask for credit card #, etc.
Then you can dispute discrepancies such as incorrectly spelled name, wrong address, wrong employer, incorrect credit card numbers, etc. You can dispute online at the three credit reporting bureaus Equifax, TransUnion, Experian. They have 30 days to respond. |

Not to be rude but, cleaning up your credit is not that easy. It takes 7 years for anything negative to fall off. My advice would be to close any accounts that you don't use. If you have a lot of credit cards, you need to pay them off asap and close them. If you have too many open accounts with high balances, it will hurt your score even if you are paying them on time. Make sure you are not late on making your payments and if you currently have no cards you may want to get a secured credit card to start re-establishing your credit. Try and pay off your old debts because it looks better that they were paid rather than not. |
