I have the CitiCard Rewards. It's pretty good, and there rewards are nice. I used to have the American Express, but I didn't love it.

One warning... almost every credit card company will have your points expire after a certain amount of time. I think most are either 3 to 5 years. Just be aware... |

I've gathered what information is available online for air mile credit
cards without filling out an application.
I've presented five cards for you. Because of varying configurations
of benefits and fees, it's impossible for me to say which would be
"best" for you. However, these most closely meet the criteria you set
out.

I found the Citi card to be a good one. They have a variety of reward cards. If you want the reward to go to a particular thing such as saving for a Disney Vacation then pick the one with a specific reward, otherwise they do have a cash back card.
But! The interest rate is something like 32% so be sure to pay it back each month.
And! Look at the program carefully. For instance mine allows only $300 cash back in each calendar year so Dec 26 I will request my cash back so that I get it in for 2006.
I expect next year that I will run through the $300 before years end. So I will need another rewards card if I want to keep getting rewards.
An instructor of mine uses DISCOVER. They have a program where you can buy discounted Gift Cards with reward dollars. Of course DISCOVER is not accepted everywhere that MC and VISA are so I wouldn't recommend that it be your only card.
If you fly Southwest Airlines or want to, then their rewards program can be valuable but it has an annual fee. One set of round trip tickets to anywhere they fly will more than pay for that fee but you have to decide whether you will spend enough to earn the reward. I have heard that the flight certificates are transferable so I think they can be sold for cash.
Whatever you do, look at the specifics very carefully to see if the specific provisions will work well for you. At first glance I have found that many cards leave an incorrect impression. |
