That really sucks for you. When you co-sign for someone you are saying on paper that for any reason the applicant cannot make the payments that you are responsible. Therefor you are responsible for the car payments. |

I'm guessing there is nothing you can do to get the car because it is going to be in his name. You need to make the payments because otherwise your credit will be ruined. Don't ever co sign for someone again....this is exactly why you shouldn't.
You can I suspect sue your friend though and you may get the car...thats the only way I can think of. |

Get a lawyer to represent you. You need to clear things with the bank/mortgage firm.

OMG! that was the worst thing to do! but I guess this will be a expensive lesson for you! Everyone knows not to co sign over anyhting for a friend or family memeber cause this always seems to happen. Sorry to say but you will be responsible for the rest of the car payments if he bails out. Cause they willl repo the call and youll be to blame to and you will have to take over the payments |

either you 1-make the payments or 2-you call the company and tell them where he is at so they can repo the car and then you will get stuck with at least some of the repo costs too or 3 - go get the car from him yourself, get caught up on payments and try to sell the car |

talk to a lawyer, and perhaps you can talk about trying to sue him for the car. thing is, there is very little you can do except pay the payments. the reason that the finance company required a cosigner was because your friend's credit was bad in the first place. this should have been a red flag. you are legally responsible for those payments if your friend doesn't pay. this is the exact reason why: 1. don't do business with friends. bad bad idea., 2. never cosign loans. it's all good until the owner doesn't pay. remember, it's cosigning, not a secondary. therefore, you are both equal in the eyes of the finance company. if the car gets repoed, your credit will take a big hit, along with his. |

If you have the copy of the application you might have all his personal information. Pull a credit report and see if there is an updated address in the area he now resides. That is for starters. Call relatives and threaten jail time for you and him if he does not return the car. Tell them that Marshals will convict you and him of auto theft and see if that gets his attention. |
