You don't have to use the whole $10K. That is the MAXIMUM amount you're preapproved for. At the dealership, you just tell them that you're using your own financing and will not finance through them. |

That's the upper limit. You must put down the first 2K because that is what is says. If the down payment went down with the amount of the loan it would have been expressed as a percentage. You probably told them that you had 2K to put down.. |
