susan_112147 | I was fired the day after Xmas, they said that I can reapply in 6 months. Would you go back and work? |
for a company who completely ruined your life? Could you go back and want to do your best for this company when without even a write up or warning just fire you? |

Unfortunately, many employers don't care about the fact that their employees are counting on their salary. They can always decide to "ruin your life", like you say, if they find it convenient to fire you or lay you off.
You cannot just wait for six months to see if they actually rehire you, and there is no guarantee that they will. It's just that they may let you apply. But in this day and age, if by the time you can reapply you are available, you might as well apply there, too. Many other employers who did not fire you are not necessarily better. At most, take this as a hint that perhaps this company is more likely to do this kind of thing, as there are some who are better.
That being said, it also depends on the circumstances. For instance, there is a difference between losing a stable job after a long time and being hired for the holidays, with some vague suggestions that they may keep you longer, which they did not. |

No. Did they offer a severance? Have you applied for unemployment? Have you sought the advice of an attorney? You need to look into that. You do have rights if you are terminated (even if you are in an at will state). This happened to me in November. I was fired without warning, without any diciplinary action previous to my termination. I was working at my desk and was fired. They refused to give me a reason. I was offered a severance package that I refused after seekin legal advice. DON'T let them walk all over you. |

You might have been 'seasonal' help. (hired for thanksgiving/Christmas). You have to figure out if you were 'let go' or fired. Sounds like 'let go' which is what happens to seasonal help.
It is your decision to go back or not. If you can get a minute with the HR (personnel) person and ask them what the status of your dismissal was may give you an idea.
Check out possibilities. If yhou decide to go back, I'd look for a higher starting wage. You've already proved yourself.
GOOD LUCK |

If you had no other means to live; yes. Otherwise, look around for something else. Maybe the firing will turn out to be a blessing in disguise. There are jobs open in every city in America any given day. |

my boss is having an affair with a coworker. The coworker has been filling his head with lies about 3 of us and he has been treating us awful. He tried writing me up for no reason and wanted 2 of us to go to other shifts. He just fired me and my son for no reason and offered us a severance package. Our HR person is his wife and is away until this Thursday. Can I or should I take the severance package and call his wife and tell her what is going on. She has no idea. |
