I take the opposite approach. believe anything, even if it disagrees with your own reason, unless and until it is proven untrue.
Basically, if more people thought like you, there would be no scientific advances. I can't have that. |

Horribly idiotic advice-- considering so many people's idea of reason and common sense is asinine. People doing this would just reject everything they don't like and continue festering in their own stupidity. By your logic, one will never grow. By definition your method rejects learning and just assumes you already know it all. A better, albeit not perfect method, would be to ACCEPT everything you hear until you discover it's wrong. You'd stubble a lot but at least learn from it. I've probably learned more from assuming I was wrong about new things than assuming I was right. |
