You will have to pay it or even when you are elderly they will garnish your SS check. |

where is everybody?

even better. they will start to garnish your taxes and you'll never see another tax refund in your entire life due to interest. they can and will also, garnish your wages. it won't go away |

No, sorry to tell you, they never give up. You will be sent letters, called (even if you have an unlisted number)and they even might garnish your wages on your job. The best thing for a student loan is to pay it every month, if you can't pay as much as they want, then ask for a "hardship" plan so you can pay less. But most important, don't default, as then other fees such as collection fees, legal fees, etc. will be added and you will be responsible. |

They can go after your tax refund and last answer is incorrect also. When you apply for social security, they can go after that. There is no SOL on sudent loans. Sorry. |

Not sure, I think this is the one bill, besides the IRS, that doesn't come of, unless you pay for it. I'm really not sure. Call the student loan company and ask, be anonymouse, they don't know, just ask them this question. |

nope, you need to pay. the other posters are correct, they will hound you forever, garnish your wages, take your tax returns, and you cant file for bankruptcy on student loans. just suck it up and pay it |

No, but it will disappear after 40 years i believe. (im being serious) It says somewhere that after 40 years if your student loan is still not paid off, you dont have to pay anymore. |

Of course not!
You think you can just ignore a debt and it will go away? |

You took out a loan..used the money for school and think you can just not pay it? Think again. |

An educational loan is the only loan you may not default on I just forget where I read this maybe the constitution. Nonetheless I don’t really know what you mean by private. By not paying it off you will lose the chance to get another to finish your training including the happily ever after part. |

Student loans are backed by the Federal Government. Have you ever known the Fed to let someone get away without paying? |
