If I get a credit card and never use it will it cost me anything?
I get points from a site that I'm a member of if I sign up for a credit card. I plan on getting the points and then cutting up the card. Will it cost me anything? will I have any annoying obligations?
Additional Details
I don't see how credit score is important. I don't plan on using a credit card as I don't believe in spending money that I haven't got.

get a student credit card, or get a secured card where u send them an amount of money ($500) and they send you a card, then u spend the card and make payments, its your money so its secured by you. best way ive heard. Apply online at: http://www.credit-card-forums.com/Student.html

It depends on the card. Take a look at http://preferred.ecreditdirectory.com/ for a pretty good list of cards arranged by categories (airline, cashback, balance tranfer, etc.)..

Is it worth it? If you already have credit cards then you don't need to apply for any additional credit.
Those points better be good.
And you may want to knwo the real cost of that card, such as the annual fees, sign up fees, or another cost associated with the card.

Not unless the card has annual fees like the previous user said or if it is prepaid. It may hurt your credit score if you close the account within a certain time frame without using it and establishing a history.

But, if you are trying to build up your credit you want to use the card from time to time. Charge a little ($50-$100) and pay it off when the bill comes. Stay within your budget, creditors like to see if you are responsible and have a good history. If you don't use it you will have no history, which is not good, unless you have already established a credit history.

it may be some fees.. U should call them

nitesong
Probably not, I do that with dept. store cards. I sign up just to get a % off, but I never use them.

You will get put on their mailing list and possibly their phone list so it can become annoying, but you aren't obligated to them.

Some cards have annual fees. Some cards start out with no annual fees and then add them later on. Be careful.

mrlucky is right. if you have a $0 balance on it, the credit card company cannot report you as late. the longer you have the card, the better your credit score will be.

trevor is correct
however, if there is no annual fee
i'v learned that it is better for your credit rating
to keep a card and not use it
than to cancel an account
make a call and find if there are hidden fees

It will hurt your credit score which is worth more then the points.
