babygurl | If I had a credit card when I was 15 and I'm now 21, 22 sept 19 it's on my credit how can I get it removed? |

Seven years after the account is closed, as in paid in full, it goes off of your report. Until then it is your credit history, good or bad. Your parents should not have used your SSN, and you may be able to press criminal charges against them to get it removed, but that would be your only recourse. |

Can't give an answer until you answer this question.
Did you use the card, or make any payments on it, after you turned 18?
If so, then it doesn't make any difference that you had the card as a minor. If you used it as an adult, you technically reaffirmed the debt, and you are now legally responsible.
If not, then all you need to do is send out letters informing the credit card company and the credit bureau that the card was given to a minor, and you do not have a legal obligation to it.
Now the next question: Are there late payments or charge off's to this credit card? Is it being reported negatively to the credit bureau? Or did you do ok and pay your bills?
If this is being reported as paid as agreed, you DO NOT want to delete this account. You have several years of credit history attached to it, and that is helping you out a lot with your credit score. If you delete it, you are basically killing any credit history you had, and many creditors won't even talk to you without it!
If it's being reported as bad, it will help you out to remove it from your credit reports. But like I said, if you used the card after 18 you will not be able to remove it, without going through the dispute procedure. |

Unless it's reporting badly? Why do you want it removed?
Since it's not legal for a minor to sign a binding contract in this Country, you could dispute it and try to get it removed.
The problem with this is that if the credit card company has proof that you committed fraud (if you did) when you applied for the card in the first place. |

They should not have given a card to you, you were only 15, not old enough to enter into a legal contract, tell them that they preyed on you as a minor and they better remove it or you will sue the crap out of them (the credit card company) |

why do you want to remove it |

Always keep an old credit card open, even if you do not use it. It builds your credit score. |

If the account is in bad standings, you're going to have to pay whatever you owe. If you cannot afford to, call the issuing company to make a payment plan.
If the account is in good standings, it would probably be in your best interest to keep it because it shows your payment history. If the card has an annual fee or a high interest rate, apply for a better card and transfer your balance. Don't close it if at all possible because it's the oldest account that you have.
I hope that helps.. Good luck! |
