If I owe the phone company $600 and I promise to pay $125 a mo. can they keep demanding more?

hi, as long as the telephone company said that $125 was ok for you to pay every month then their should"t be any problem"s,i would call them back on it and have them send you a statement showing that it"s ok,hope i could help you with this matter,BARBARA,

They can demand that you pay what is due by the due date. If you racked that up as a regular bill and the due date is, say September 1st, they can try and demand more. If you call and negotiate with them they should help you out a little bit and be understanding, but this isn't required-- you're required to pay what you owe them!

But whatever you do,continue to pay what you can (125) and hopefully you'll get it paid off before they freak out too much.

They can and most often will, especially if the amount owed is higher than $600 or the person pays less than first promised.

They can keep demanding until they have received the full amount. If you continue to pay, they may not shut the phone off. If you can get a hold of someone in customer service (hopefully someone that speaks your language), maybe they can come up with a payment plan for you. Until then, you may want to hold off on the phone calls for a while.

They can demand everything - just because you're paying part of it doesn't mean they lose their rights.

IF and only IF they agree, in writing, to accept the $125 per month payment plan, then they have to stop harassing you.

Be wary of the person saying you can stop payment because of their calls -

As long as you owe them money, they can demand pretty much anything they want to demand.

repoman18
They can demand all they want. What you give is what they get. They could shut your service off until you've cleared your debt, or they could decline to do further business with you altogether. It's up to them. Pay your bills on time. If you can't, make arrangements before you're past due.

Good Luck

Jacida
They can, but they probably won't. They will be afraid that you will not pay at all. Definitely offer to pay whatever you can, to help your credit score. Keep in contact with them each month to let them know that you are still aware of the balance, and are paying it to the best of your ability. If you actually DO pay it to the best of your ability, you shouldn't have a problem.

no they cant and by law if you can prove they are refusing that payment then you don't have to pay nothing
