erin r | If I transfer my credit cards onto my boyfriends will I still be the one getting the credit history? |
I have 19% apr on my 2 credit cards he only has 4% it makes sence to transfer the balance on to his but will I still be building up good credit and credit history? |
|

Have him ADD YOU AS AN AUTHORIZED USER before you do the transfer. He DOES NOT HAVE TO GIVE YOU THE CARD if he's concerned about your credibility - but you will be credited with this one account history - my brother went through Hurricane Katrina finiancial woe and I put him on 4 of my cards and it helped his credit score. |

No, he will be responsible for the debit from that point on and it will show up only only his credit history. The only way it would show up on your credit history is if the two of you had a joint credit card, then it would show up on your credit history too. |

you can only build up credit history on accounts that are in your name. It makes good sense to pay the lower interest and paying off your cards this way does tend to increase your credit score. To build up your credit you need to use your cards, never ever ever pay late and always pay more than the minimum amount due. Good luck! |

Good move for the low interest rate, however, once they are transferred the balance will be in your boyfiends name, you would be paying off your credit cards with zero balance. |

Nope and if you guys break up he will be stuck with the debt. |

No, if he has the cards that you are transfering them to then he will take the credit from it. This could be really good though to pay of your credit cards. |

No. Ask him to put you on as an authorized user to gain your credit. But then you are only a "co-signer" instead of a primary user. Just transfer the funds to his and have him pay it off. Smart idea.... |

Nope. |

No, you won't, and it wouldn't be a good idea for your boyfriend to let you unless he gets it in writing that it's a loan. Also, his credit card probably will not allow a balance transfer from an account that is not his. He might be able to take a cash advance, but there are big fees involved in that. |
