becky f | If I were to pay off stuff on my credit report, how long does it take to bring my credit score up? |

It depends on how often the companies report to the credit agency. You should give it at least a few months to show up on your credit report with an improved credit score. |

Unless you negotiate a pay for delete agreement, paying them off will not raise your score, and in some cases can actually LOWER it. Yeah, bet those collection agents didn't tell you that, did they? |

it depends on what it was, if it was in collections, and when the company reports it as paid. usually 60-90 days. also keep a copy of the receipt that you paid it off, you may need proof in the future if the company dosent report it. |

in order for a credit score to be applicable it has to be effective for at least a year. A line of good credit takes one year to establish, and most loan companies will require at least 4 lines of good credit if no bad credit is present! |

forget about that credit report business.... my id was stolen and people charged all thypes of vactions food entertainment.. the credit card company found my card was comprimized. and they killed the number and issued me a new card... mean while all the people were notified of the situation.. but the companys call and call so all they want is to offer you a way out... example would you pay half to clear up your history.. or give me a credit card number.. my advice is to get a credit card with a low amount you can charge and pay this off each month.. and they will gradually increase this amount until you have a good limit.. so why worry about a credit score.. also if you pay your electric water and gas bill on time this is an excellent reference for anything.. ok gilermo. |

It usually takes 30 days for an update. |

Anywhere from 30 days to 6 months. It's important to keep the records of any settlement or payoffs. Creditors are much less interested in reporting when you've paid your debts than they are when you owe them. Make sure to keep your records and pull you annual free credit report here to check they've updated the reports. If you see items you have paid off still showing, make sure to dispute them with the credit agencies. (http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre34.shtm) |

i think on average it will take about 6 months for the payoffs to affect your score. |

It is my understanding that changes take at least 3 months to appear on the credit report.
I've read that the most important factor in raising the score is to pay ALL debts no later than the due date. Each time a due date passes, even if you mailed the payment in time, your score goes down, according to the people I've read.
Also, if you decide to close credit cards, do so one or two at a time, and close the newest ones first. The best thing for your credit score is having a long record of paying credit on time. |

generally on how much and how fast you pay it off to generate a credit score the shortest limit is six months to finally see a credit score but it just depends on the credit vendors |
