In most cases they will not do anything. If you are asking can they, well yes they can...but in reality if it's not worth their efforts. It depends on how much you owe them. If it's a small amount, such as below $500 they will probably do nothing but threaten! They will continue to take your money and threaten until it's paid off.
How much do you owe?
Is there anyway to offer a settlement? Such as a bulk amount but a percentage of the original debt. Such as offer them 50% in full for deletion off your credit report. This is a fair exchange as it saves your credit!
Have you discussed this with the collection agendy or is it just a thought? What did they say? |

They can only garnish your wages if they have a judgemnent agianst you. What you want to make sure of is that they donot have your bank account number. Once they do get the judgement, if they know your bank account number they can order the bank to give them all the money in your account. ie don't send them a check as payment.

depending on how much money you owe, I don't think they would accept only $10 a month so yes, they could still take you to court and get a judgement to garnish your wages. |

the best thing you can do is either not pay them or get someone to help consolidate your debts. i went to catholic charities, which i didn't want to do, but they got the interest on my debts removed and helped get a payment plan everyone was happy with. and nobody said a word about religion. and it didn't cost me anything for their help. good luck. |

What state r u in? Some states no one can garnish wages but IRS or other goverment issues such as student loans (which r usually deducted from ur income tax refund. Also child support in some states can be garnished. U may be getting letters from ur creditors with garnishment threats they may be bogus, in the hopes of collecting their money owed sooner. Talk to a bankruptcy attorney in ur area u should get 1 consultation free, or u may just ask the question on the phone they will more than not answer this. Also u can get answers online for ur state about garnishment laws, bankruptcy laws etc. HAPPY NEW YEAR! GOOD LUCK |

you would have to have an agreement with them. they can not garnish your wages unless they sue your first. If they do sue you ask the judge if you can file a "slow pay motion" |
