Think about it. If a person if over the age of 18, has no family ties to anyone and was planning to commit suicide, why not co-sign for their good friend's car loan, max out their credit cards, buy a new car of their own or take one hell of a last vacation? Doesn't the credit companies and banks simply take a loss if the deceased owes more than they own and has no relatives to foot the bill? |

Relatives don't foot the bill. They are not liable for the debtor's debts. What you're asking is why doesn't the person go on one last hurrah. I'm sure there are some who do, not necessarily in the way you described, but look at the mass homocide/suicides like Columbine. |
