you can put a security lock on your card number with the card company. that way all charges have to be authorized by them before they go through.
contact the card company for more info.
have a nice day. |

Let your credit card company know what happened so they can be on alert. |

she needs to contact her credit card company and make sure no fraudulent charges have been made. But people can use the number over the internet. Especially if they have the numbers on the back of the card. It can also be used over the phone. |

as long as they have your cc number and expiration date they can buy alot of things. if they have your billing address then they can buy anything they want over the phone or internet. try again, maybe they put it under a different name or different day. all the info you gave them.. is all the info they need to give to any other place to buy anything. there's alot of trust involved, almost every time you make a transaction the merchant has enough info to go on a shopping spree if they pleased.. good luck! |

If it's a legitimate hotel that you're dealing with then they will just use the information for what they stated. They could essentially use it for anything they liked, but it's unlikely if they're a decent place.
It's possible the payment was put through but the person then forgot to mark you in their book. Call back and double check they haven't booked you in for the wrong dates too. |

the cardholder should call the card company IMMEDIATELY to report suspested fraud or abuse.
Verify if the card was charged by viewing the account activity online.
They have your personal information and your card information. Your card could be maxed out in minutes.
And, lastly, find a hotel where they will reserve it and not leave you guessing. |

When you give your card number to an employee for legitimate business purposes, you expect it to remain confidential and used for your purchase only. Whether the reservation was made or not, they will either use the card illegally or not. Do you have any reason to believe it will be used fraudulently? |

Sure, if the employee is dishonest, they can use your card number.
Did you get a reference number from the person that took your room reservation at the hotel? Did he/she give you his/her name when they took the reservation? |

yeah they can but its against the law to do that you have to be very particular about giving info to anyone for anything but must likely the wont depend if its a scam or not you can always check with the card company and get them to give you a read out of your account transactions |

There is lot of thing that they can do with the credit card especially if you voluntary give the information to them. I the employee of the hotel told you that you have no records with them, cancel right away the purchase you made and call the credit card provider just to play safe. You don't want your mom to pay something that she never use and purchase. There is a lot of fraud going on around and just be careful not to be a victim of on of them. My son did and he still paying for that $21,000 frauded on his account. |

First of all if you reserve a hotel room they will never give you a room number before you check in.
You cannot check into a hotel by yourself if you are under 18.
Call the hotel to cancel your reservation, then make a new one and get a confirmation number.
If you gave your credit card number, call the bank to see if the hotel put a hold on your credit card. |
