mapjrsmom | If i paid off a debt and received a receipt marked paid in full can they then ask for more money? |
paid off past due oil bill in full they are now trying to tell me that i owe them for a sheriffs fee, that incurred on the day i paid the balance off on the account |

YES, they can. When a receipt is marked "PAID IN FULL" it means that only the charges included on THAT particular invoice are indeed, paid. The sheriff's fee, if not on the bill you received is an entirely new charge. Just pay it, or they can sue you again. Obviously they have a court decision to back it up.
If you hadn't acted as you did, they wouldn't have these charges to begin with. Therefore, it is your responsibility to pay the charges.

it depends... it is possible that there were charges that accrued on your account on the day that you made your payment that the company was not aware of .... |

The sheriff's fee is separate from the paid bill, just like any oil you have used since then is separate. If they had to get the sheriff to make you pay the existing bill then obviously they had not yet been billed by the sheriff. Now they have, and you are responsible. Why should they (and consequently, the rest of us) have to pay it? It isn't their fault you didn't pay the bill and they can't really be expected to care whether it's your fault either. Being poor is a b ! tch but it doesn't change the facts. Sorry, but if you try to fight this you will just flat lose. |

Hi,
I used "Credit Solution" to settle my debt and improve my credit score. They managed to reduce my debt up to 58% .It's legitimate.I came across this company on NBC News Special Edition.Check it out here:

Keep that paid in full receipt and tell them to pound sand. |

No. They can't. |
|

Reality Check
 |
Tell them to take it to court....if the sheriff's fee was not part of the "final bill", then they need to present you with an entirely new bill, and your debt is paid in full, as it states on the receipt. |

Tell them that all payments have been made from your end and the reciept was proof of the transaction. The Final due clear reciept itself proves that all pending debts to the said financiar have been cleared and they have acknowledged it.
Tell them that if they have not included the sheriffs fee in the final settlement reciept, then its not your fault and the financiar's side will have to take the same on themselves.
Refer the consumer protection act before any more arguments. |

They can always ask, but you are fine as long as you keep that receipt. |

A receipt is iron clad. That's why you get one when paying something. Too bad on them if they forgot this extra charge. If you owe the Sheriff's office money, then let them send you a bill. |
