1) it helps when u buy stuff on ebay... as sellers usually dont hv other means of accepting payment... paypal is the easiest way.

Paypal can be used on many online sites. But it was originally (I believe) created for ebay, to protect buyers. What happens is your credit card info is not shared with the seller, the funds are sent directly to the sellers paypal account from your paypal account- protecting the buyers credit info from any John Doe seller on ebay getting it.
Paypal is simply another option to pay.. Basically if you don't feel comfortable giving a particular site your credit card info, you can use paypal (if they accept it)
But yes, in order to use paypal you have to have a credit or debit card - something to pull the funds from to pay.
