When the last parent dies, their assets are sold to satisfy all outstanding bills. Once that money is gone, the debit is retired and any unsecured lenders are out of luck.
Debit won't pass beyond the final estate.

No. Unless the kids are listed as joint account holders (highly unlikely) then they are in no way legally responsible for the parents debt.
The debt will have to be satisfied through the deceased person's estate, so the kids may be indirectly effected, but they would not be personally responsible for the debt.
