QNA | If you ask for an additional card for someone in your family on a credit card application...? |
1. Do they check that person's credit report/score?
2. Do they take that person's credit profile into consideration when they decide to approve/deny your application? |

If you are just asking for an additional card then where the second person is not liable for the charges
1. No
2. No
If you are doing a joint application, where you will both be liable for the debts
1. Yes
2. Yes |

No to both questions. Now, if you set them up as an additional applicant instead of just an additional card, then the answer would be yes. |

If the family member is not a co-signer, just an authorized user, their credit is not reviewed or considered. Authorized users are not responsible for repayment. |

I disagree with the other person. If in the application you do a joint application, then yes to both. However in the bottom section where it asks if you want an additional card and you put in the other persons name only you are not doing it jointly just asking for a card for them. |

Not if you are just adding them to your account. |

I don't beleive they check any of that information. The primary holder of the account is the one they check out and approve and the secondary card is just a courtesy. Just like if the second person calls the company with any questions, they will not answer them, they only talk to the primary holder of the account. |

no,as long as the primary card holer is approved, but be carefull as you will be responsible for all charges |

 |
You have to bear in mind that your own credit score has to be good to qualify you to add a family member to your credit card account. Hence, the person's credit history is immaterial to the credit card company, but yours, of course.

No and No.
If you're simply asking for an extra card - for instance, to give to a child who's going away to college - that person is considered an authorized BUYER. Their credit is not examined in any way.
If you're wanting to open a joint account with, say, your spouse, that person is an authorized SIGNER and yes, their credit history is examined and they are liable for all charges to the account, just as you will be. |

If you put them on the original application, yes. If you already have the card in your name and want to add them to your account, no. |

yes to both |
