ashleigh2501 | If you had a friend or family member with Bad Credit? |
Would you let them use your Social Security number to buy a car, get a cellphone, get credit cards, or take out a loan? Even if they told you they would pay you back?. People do this a lot because they feel sorry for the people who couldnt take responsibility for their own doing. If you have bad credit, and havent seen your credit report in years, then im sorry but that is a shame and irresponsible. It would make sense to clean-up your credit so you wouldnt have to ask to use somebody elses or go through the embaressment of having to even ask. |

No I would not because this is fraud that could get both of you thrown in the slammer!
If they were serious about paying you back, then why is their lives such a mess in the first place? I totally agree with the latter part of your post, that those are the results of irresponsibility and it would be best to clean up your credit reports and get your life back!
Refer them to my website. If I had one hope when I authored this it would be to inspire someone to grab some ambition and begin making repairs! I did it after an ID theft and bankruptcy and still got my score up from 486 to 730 in a little over a year!
Get them to obtain a free copy of their credit report for christmas!!!!! |

Absolutely not! |

not a good idea if you let them do that and they dont pay it will go against you and the relationship can be ruined. even though you trust them the bad credit means they dont pay the bills or did not pay them. I would not take that chance. just like co-signing I would not do it. |
|

Not only no, but HELL no. I wouldn't co-sign for them, either. Using your SSN would kind of be illegal. Don't do it. Let this friend clean up their credit and take care of their own life. Isn't that what you have to do? |

NONONO! (oh, am I shouting?) If you really mean that you are lending out your identity to that family member, that is fraudulent. If you really mean that you are co-signing with them, then that idea is bad also. Past behavior is the biggest predictor of future behavior (that is one of the biggest reasons that there are credit bureaus in the first place - has the person paid in the past? and can we reasonably believe that s/he will pay in the future?) . .anyway, although I understand there are some reformed debtors out there, but I believe in the grand scheme of things, that percentage is small. |

HELL NO!! I would NEVER EVER let ANYONE use my social security number for anything!!! If they need ny help I'll pray for them and help them look for a job and that's it. It is their responsibility to check their credit and to keep their credit clean, not mine. |

HECK NO!
what your suggesting is irresponsible not to mention stupid.
besides the problem we have in this country with identity theft and credit fraud doing something like that will screw up YOUR CREDIT as well. What happens when you want to get a new cell phone or credit card or maybe even a mortgage?
don't screw your credit up by feeling sorry for somebody else poor credit decisions.
be smart, not stupid. use credit and your social security number responsibly |

Yes, you are right people should take care of their credit so they don't have to ask anyone else to use theirs; which is a bad idea because if they couldn't take care of their own credit how do you expect them to take care of yours? |

It depend on how you trust them.
But First of all you say they have bad credit. How they get it !
If they can't manager their own business you think they will care about you!
It is very difficult to make a decision on this matter. But all depend on how you trusted them. |

Definitely not, it will impair your borrowing ability, credit as well as ruin your relationship should things go sour. |

Absoulutely not!!!!
I'm guessing somebody has asked you to do this,
That's just like letting somebody borrow your car casue they didn't have their own cause thier's got towed for drinking and driving and they were going to drive your car to a bar. |
|

Wayne

NO! If they don't care about their credit, they could care less about mine. |

I would never lend my SS#, especially for loans! Part of adulthood is taking responsibility for your past mistakes. Sometimes people need to fend for themselves. |
