You don't want good credit so you can get a credit card. You want good credit so you can get better rates on a mortgage for your house, or car loans.
The only way to build credit is to pay bills and pay them on time. If you miss a payment you could lose like 50 points but if you make a payment on time you make a point. Different for everyone, but the moral of the story is it takes a while to build good credit, but it only takes a couple of missed payments to screw it up. |

Dont do it too fast or the credit company will know. Start off with one card, like a macy's card or a department store card, then after like 6 months, get another one like a low interest bank of america card or washington mutual card then keep those two.....Make sure you pay at least minimum payments each month and spend at least 10 bucks each moth....After two years your credit will be good. The more you spend and the more times you pay it off completely will boost your credit score. Your credit limit will always start off low, it will then increase slowly
Please be careful, dont play with credit like its game becasue it will hurt you if you're not serious about it. |

a good place to start if the university credit union ( or credit union in your town) they are easy to get a card from. no matter where you go your first card will not be 0% apr thats your anual percentage rate. its confusing to try and explain but when you get a card you want to use it BUT not more to exceed your means that looks really bad. when your bill coms in you want to pay th whole amount not just the min. (witch is really cheap) but you have to keep up! or they start reporting you ngative. i started my crdit with sbc the phone service so credit cards are not the only way to build your credit contract phones do too t mobile is a good company also for this. go to capitalone.com most likly they will give you one too. If you have a job you cant get a card with out an income. whatever you decide ask ur but off when your applying. make sure you understand EVERYTHING befor you sign a contract maybe have a parent or someone go with you. some credit card companys will charge you for the silliest things and try not to do cash back alot most companys charge more for that too unless your credit is already good they will charge you (most likly) also when you get your first crdit card (and when you turn 18) you will get tons of thse "your pre aproved" letters trying to tell you your pre aproved for 10000 credit limit just throw them a way its a gimic there just banks trying to get more people. its not really a credit card there trying to get you to open a checking (debit) account |

Pay your bills, in full and on time. Open a few credit lines for things that you need to purchase, and buy stuff when you need to. That is all it takes. |

Pay all of your bills in full and on time each month for the rest of your life. Including utilities.
The "get one credit card..." sounds good but, is extremely addictive and dangerous (thinking you only have to pay the minimum due instead of the whole balance adds interest and debt.) |

Get a job and apply for a store credit card. Pay on time, every time and soon you can apply for a regular credit card. Always keep your balance lower then 40% of the credit line. |

Get a credit card with a $300 limit. Buy some small things, and pay back the debt on time.
Good way to get started. |

Get a credit card in your name, and don't use it yourself. Give the card to your parents, or other TRUSTED family member, and have them use the card every now and then for small purchases and make sure they always pay it on time. You could also do this yourself, if you can resist the temptation to max it out on fast women. |
