cvegas229 | Im feeling so helpless lately, borderline suicidal...? |
Im not posting one of those whoa is me type questions but it seems like when it rains it pours - Ive never had just a couple of issues in life it either goes from good to very very bad or vice versa, I just found out that my bank account was "siezed" because of a credit card I still owe on from God knows when... I can pay off the balance but I have to come up with 700 bucks before wednesday of next week to have them release my bank acct or my entire paycheck will be taken I ususally make about $1100 every 2 weeks so if i could come up with the 700 i can pay it back when i get my check but have NOONE to get the money from. I actually contemplated driving my car into a concrete pillar but I know money issues should be the last reason to take such drastic messures but I honestly feel that this situation is pulling me down and making me down. Anyone have any suggestions of how I can "snap" out of it?? Additional Details I appreciate most of you answers but many of you dont understand what my question is.... cut and dry what im asking is why has this situation devestated me so hard? I feel like just giving up over 700 bucks I make almost double that bi-weekly. I cant figure out why have I become so damn weak and sensitive? |

You know one of the biggest areas of frustration in life is when our desires and values clash with someone else's. In this case, you want/need money and a good lifestyle, while a past debtor wants your money too.
The suicidal tension you feel is a common who for someone who flees from conflict. It must be addressed and you could start by looking at how can I honor God in this situation and how have you contributed to this situation. Was it by failing to pay the debt, failing to be satisfied with your life so you over spent, all of the above, none of the above??? You get the picture, examine where you went wrong and then own up to it.
Go in person to the person who makes the decision to seize your account and apologize and ask for forgiveness. Give them a plan to repay the money, with interest. Then call your other creditors and explain why you may not be able to pay them and work a plan before another situation comes up.
Learn to deal with conflict in a healthy way, and these suicidal ideations will stop too. |

You need legal advice. Problems suck but we all deal with them. I know it sucks but hang tight and fight back, taking action is good for your emotions and state of mind. You have rights too, make a deal with them to get them off your back but get some legal advice or call your states attorney general and report this situation. There must be a government agency that can put the hammer on these guys and get them off your back to give you space to move so you can resolve it to everyone's satisfaction.
Call one of those consumer credit companies to help you resolve it.
take action, you can turn it around but you must move now, don't wait. do all the above and more to get them to work with you and not against you.
Good luck, things are about to change! |

We all go through this with family or friends when a problem hits the fan. Suicide is not the answer because your family will suffer. If you can not get an advance on your pay, ask a family member for help. It's nothing to be ashamed of. We have a son that we been giving money to for over 10 years and we never gave it a second thought. So far, it's only $200,000 that we dished out. |

SEVERAL suggestions:
AND SUICIDE IS NOT ONE OF THEM!
First: Contact A SUPERVISOR IN CUSTOMER SERVICE of the long ago forgotten credit card company and ask that they immediately fax you ITEMIZED DETAILS of what they feel you owe: including purchase, $amt, date of purchase. THEY HAVE TO SEND THIS TO YOU. Tell them you want them to validate their claim on your bank account. The charge might be a mistake and not even yours!
Second: Contact a Vice-President of your bank and ask them to provide written proof of validation for the imminent "seizure" of your bank account. This might be a SCAM if you don't even remember the credit card.
Third: IMMEDIATELY CLOSE YOUR BANK ACCOUNT and WITHDRAW ALL OF THE MONEY IN YOUR ACCOUNT and open an account in another bank by depositing the cash!
Fourth: Go to your company's financial department and have them CANCEL any direct deposit of checks to your bank account. Have them write you a "paper check" each pay period until you work this out.
Fifth: IF THE CHARGE IS VALID, and was indeed made by you and is not a scam, go to a credit counselor and let them negotiate a lesser "pay off balance" for you. You can get a cash advance on one of your credit cards to pay this lesser $amount. Your company might advance you salary to get you out of this bind. Talk to a SUPERVISOR who will have the authority to help you. It doesn't help to talk to a lower level employee as they don't have the authority to help you.
Sixth: If all else fails, go to Catholic Charities and plead your case. You don't have to be Catholic. They have counselors available to help you.
Remember, "bankruptcy" is a lot less painful than suicide...
Hang in there, YOU CAN DO IT!

In the short term, why not just call the payroll department at your job and cancel your direct deposit. That way you could make payments on this debt, but still have a little money in your pocket for food and gas until you get this whole mess straightened out. |

You should probably talk to a therapist or psychologist. You obviously have some issues that need to be worked out. Your mental health is important, take care of it. |

with over 70% of americans in debt, overspending, and living paycheck to paycheck, you are not alone.
If you are sick and tired of being broke you can do something about it, if you are willing to learn and change your money handling habits.
there is hope. :)
get on a spending plan, pay off debt... save.... it takes time, but do this long enough, and you won't have these issues again.... god willing. |

joan rivers husband committed suicide over money, he killed himself shortly after he lost the tonight show (it would have been the tonight show w/joan rivers instead of jay leno).she stated "he took a permanent solution to a temporary problem".
money is not worth your life. it comes and goes. you may not be able to come up with the funds, but perhaps have you thought about deferring your car payment/house pymnt.
if you speak to the lender you may be able to tack on 1-2 pymnts at the end of your term, provided you are still in good status with the account. have you ever thought of ebay/garage sale... title loan/pawning items.... i know the title loan and pawn shop seem horrible and horrendous... but if its your only solution it may be something worth looking into.
i dont know how big your company is, but if its a small company you might be able to go to the owner for an advance on your paycheck.... i know these arent the best ideas, but they're a start.
remember your life is more precious than any bill! |

its not the end of the world. $700 is nothing. you have your health, your family, a roof over your head, food to eat, a job, etc. that $700 is just a set back. you'll survive because i did. you'll need to open more than 1 bank acct. it'll make it more difficult for creditors to choose which bank & if 1 if frozen, you still have the other. that's what i did. good luck. there's more to life. |

First, when your bank account is seized, you can still deposit. Once the 1100 is deposited the 700 will be removed (to address the lien), the seizure will be lifted and you will have access to the remaining 400.
It's a mess, but you can clean it up and move on. It's a learning experience and some a harder than others.
Take some time and think it through and channel some of your thoughts into developing a plan. Once you know how to handle a situation the fear will go-away and you can sleep easier.
What did concern me a bit is that you considered suicide. Life is about ups and downs. To be successful you have to see the downs as opportunities to learn and grow.
There is no magical way to snap yourself out of a funk. But you can take a moment and start writing all the things that are grateful for. For example being grateful for the ability to think, write, use a computer, drive, have access to a car...
You have to try and look for the positives in life. Even in the darkest moment there is something bright. Family, friends, a partner. Something that will remind you that life can be beautiful if you just slow down and take a minute to enjoy it.
Good Luck |

honestly, you just need to relax.have some "you" time.go places you like to be at,eat things that you like to eat,be around people that you enjoy being around, buy something you like.Just treat yourself good.you know your going to get through this.People have money issues everyday, and in a lot of cases they are much worse than yours. You need to just relax for a little, then later on really focus on what you can do to improve the situation.Im sure you can find some way around it to pay it off,or borrow the money for a while.Get people on the phone and ask of the possibilities of paying it.Good Luck. =] |

Damn sister, I have been through every single money problem you can name. If they froze your account, they can only take what you owe. Once that debt is satisfied your other money will be released. You had to know that was coming. They have to serve you with court papers and if you don't show they can garnish you. How they got your checking acct is beyond me. You had to have blown off a court date. I was a bill collector and I sued people for a living. I know how it works. That is beside the point. Just pay it and move on. Everyone who goes through problems gets hit at once. I found out I was pregnant, my husband lost his job t he same day. We all go through money problems. |

The company where you are working may offer some sort of confidential helpline. Where you can talk to real counsellors, without your employer knowing.
If they do not offer that kind of service go to your local Health Unit. Health units can usually offer someone a few free counselling sessions. If all else fails look into a women shelter in your area, they often have resources they can tap in too to help you. |

it's only money. there is more to life than money. It might be a wake-up call though. Maybe you need new priorities on life.
Not sure if you believe in God but maybe this would encourage you. He cares!
Jeremiah 29:11-13 For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.
Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. |

If you're suicidal you need to call 911 NOW!!!!!!!!!!
if you have direct deposit, stop it on Monday It may not be in time for the next pay period, but at least it will be stopped in the future. Cash you paycheck at a grocery store or a place like that and pay your bills with money orders. Call the creditor (you should be able to get that information), and make payment arrangements..
ON A SIDE NOTE!!!!!!
Suicide is nothing to joke about!!! 99.9% of people who say it usually mean it. Anyone who hears that kind of statment has the automatic legal right to take you to the nearest hospital and have you committed for 72 hold.. THAT'S LAW PRACTICALLY IN EVERY STATE!!!
NOW!,
Just pay the $700.00 and get that off your back |

Girlfriend, get a grip. Things happen for a reason and we'll never know what that reason is. But, in life, I have come to realize that these "bad" situations we get ourselves into are just part of a plan that the man upstairs has for us. You'll get through it and think about all the people you have made happy by just being you and hopefully that'll give you the courage and strength to keep on keepin' on. I'm in the same boat,, but, somehow find the will to hang in there. Things happen the way they're supposed to happen and I know you will be strong enough to hang tight. It's just money and they can't take blood from a stone. Good luck!! |

You are weak and sensitive because of the content of your "reactive mind" TELLING you to be weak and senstive. Haven't you heard of Dianetics yet?
Go get the video on Dianetics. Then DO something about it, and not psychiatric drugs for goodness sake. |

If you are so poor, why do you have internet service? Isn't internet service a luxury? Perhaps if you simplify your life by getting rid of cable, internet, cell phones, etc., and get a smaller apartment and start shopping at thrift stores and so on, you will not only alleviate your financial woes, but you will also enjoy the challenge and rewards of simpler living in our insane high-paced materialistic world. Then you won't feel so miserable. Honestly, there are many reasons to feel suicidally unhappy in life, but when there are people living in squalor all over the world and you have internet service, it is really very foolish to claim poverty as your reason for unhappiness. |
