Is 11% a bad interest rate used 2007 SUV?......Refinance?
I bought a used 2007 chevy trailblazer with 12k miles. (I'm out of the country alot so I probably won't put more than 6k on it a year) The sale price was 21k and the payments are 400 per month. Credit score is 670. What's the likelyhood of me getting a better rate if I refinanced next summer? hopefully by then I can put 3k towards the vehicle on top of my regular monthly payments.
Additional Details
I've had a charge off in the past two years and a second vehicle i am still paying for as well.

I bought my mustang in 2004 , and I basically had no credit, but i got a 6.5% interest rate so yeah 11% is bad. the longer you finance for though the higher the rate. Some finance people just try and rip you off. your credit scores not high but then again its not bad either so in my opinion you could have gotten a better rate with your score.

11% is high but it's not the end of the world. If you're already making payments, leave it be. If you could add $25 or $50 more each month, you'll be cutting down of the interest that way.

Yes, it is a bad interest rate. Do whatever you can to get that sucker under 7% or you could be wasting about 5-8 bucks a day on just interest alone.

Here are some hard core #'s in Canada (which is similar to US)

7.9% - 8.5% is a good rate for "nearly new" vehicles.

The very best solution is calling all the major banks in your area for their "best rates." 670 is a good credit score, and remember to negotiate (complain a bit) about the first rate they give you. (They all have the power to cut it by up to 1/2%)

Don't feel pressured if they ask you for more money down - this is a tactic they use if they give you a lower rate and is more of a means to "control you."

With a charge off and another vehicle in your credit report, 11% seems pretty fair.

But the time to research your options is before you buy, not after.

Good luck.

YES!! It is TERRIBLE...Check with your local bank, not with the car dealer..

Really bad. the average used car loan rate is 7% for a 36 month loan.

11% is too high a rate. If you have to pay that much, liquidate some unnecesary items you own. If this loan has a prepay penalty you are out of luck. Make sure any loan you take out that there are no prepay penalties. Most respectable borrowers will agree to this. Good luck

Mr Lizard
If this is the best rate you can find, then you should consider buying a slightly older, cheaper car. 11% is very high.
